Geneva Motor Show: pictures of the Mercedes-Benz Vision C 220 BLUETEC concept

Filed under: Diesel, Mercedes Benz, Geneva Motor Show

We already know a lot about the Vision C 220 BlueTec that Mercedes-Benz brought to the Geneva Motor Show. And, while we also had the two official pictures (click on thumbnails below), for a really good look at the styling and features of this production preview showcar, we can now offer up Autoblog's high-resolution gallery.

The BlueTec system in the Vision C 220 means the car is ready to meet the EURO 6 emission standard, which doesn't kick in in Europe until 2015. With an output of 125 kW (170 hp) and a peak torque of 400 Nm, the Vision C 220 BlueTec consumes just 5.5 liters of diesel per hundred kilometers (about 43 mpg in the U.S.).

Geneva preview: The new Mercedes-Benz clean diesel, the Vision C 220 BlueTec

Filed under: Diesel, DaimlerChrysler, Mercedes Benz, Geneva Motor Show

The new Vision C 220 BlueTec from Mercedes is coming to Geneva with fuel consumption of just 5.5 liters per 100 kilometers and an emissions control system that is ready to meet the Euro 6 standard, which doesn't kick in until 2015. Benz drivers will still feel comfortable with an engine that has a peak output of 125 kW (170 hp) and a peak torque of 400 Nm. Mercedes-Benz is displaying the BlueTec emission-control technology with a consumption-optimized four-cylinder engine for the first time at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show.

Dr Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of DaimlerChrysler AG and Head of the Mercedes Car Group, says that, "The sophisticated four-cylinder diesel engine with BLUETEC emission control is a prime example of leading-edge, future-compatible technology. Our diesel strategy is an effective answer to the question of how to save fuel and, therefore, CO2, to further reduce all exhaust emissions including NOx and yet still ensure effortlessly superior driving enjoyment. In this respect, we believe our state-of-the-art diesel concept is currently the best and most efficient solution available."

We say thanks. The DC press release is after the jump, and we've got two high-resolution photos available.
