The G4e represents Subaru's long-term electric car goals. Equipped with Li-Ion battery technology, the lightweight 5-door EV concept should offer a range of 125-miles. While it may not be as flashy as some of the vehicles on our pages, it's a real car and would work out quite nicely for a huge chunk of the world's population. The fact that it is distinctive but still features conventional looks may very well be what makes the G4e a success.

Filed under: EV/Plug-in, Hybrid, Tokyo Motor Show, Green Daily

The cars from the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show aren't news to any of us at this point, but we can now gawk anew at the Pivo 2 and the CR-Z hybrid, the Lexus LF-Xh and the Subaru G4e (above) in screen-saver quality phots. Other vehicles our new gallery include the Toyota 1/X Concept, the Mazda Premacy Hydrogen RE Hybrid and the Audi metroproject quattro design study. You can click on any of the names highlighted above to see high-resolution photos or on one of the thumbnails below and scan your way through all 45 images.

I swear, Honda's soon-to-be-produced CR-Z looks better each time I look at it. You?

Tokyo Motor Show: Subaru's G4e - lithium batteries, 120+ miles per charge, seats five

Filed under: EV/Plug-in, Subaru, Tokyo Motor Show

Here's a concept vehicle that I know would sell well. Four doors, seats five, all-electric, and can go 200 clicks (124 miles) on a charge. Salivating yet? Someone call Subaru and tell them we want the G4e now.

Of course, just how much we'd have to pay for one of these EVs is unknown. Those lithium-ion batteries, stored under the floor, certainly don't come cheap. Still, Subaru will show off the G4e at the Tokyo Motor Show later this month, just to tease us. The marque's theme for the show is "Fantastic moments," so this might be more fantasy than we'd like. Relevant portions of the press release (PDF) are pasted after the jump. We can expect more information on October 24, when Subaru's Ikuo Mori talks to the press.
