Geneva Motor Show: Rick Wagoner affirms commitment to energy diversity

During a speech at the Geneva Motor Show today GM chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner repeated the mantra from the Chevy Volt introduction in Detroit in January that the future of energy supplies would be much more diverse than they are today. In light of that GM is developing a wide range of alternative fuel propulsion systems for future vehicles. At Geneva, General Motors unveiled a new advanced clean diesel V-6 and again discussed the Chevy Equinox fuel cell vehicle test fleet.
Wagoner also discussed the E-Flex platform from the Volt concept that can use a variety of range extending power-plants, including gas/ethanol flex-fuel engines, diesel, fuel cell, or even additional batteries. Finally he announced the addition of the BioPower flex-fuel engines to the Saab 9-3 lineup this year. The GM press release is after the jump.
