BMW chimes in on proposed U.S. CAFE standards {Autoblog Green}
Jul 1st 2008 10:22PM Boo - Hoo
So they are admitting they have sub-par Engineers, and are no longer leaders of ingenuity.
They deserve to go under, inferiority shouldn't prosper, remember the Chrysler-Government bail out?
Now they are back to bankruptcy again....
Tax breaks for Tesla, Model S sedan to get 225 miles, cost $60k {Autoblog Green}
Jul 1st 2008 10:17PM 225 Miles, is about the same electricity to ONLY produce 1 gallon of gas, JUST TO REFINE IT.
Think about it!
Use NO gas AND save electricity buy charging this car on the grid!!!
Automakers say new CAFE standards will cost 82,000 jobs {Autoblog}
Jul 1st 2008 10:04PM Are we talking about Jobs in Oil companies?
Are we talking about the Saudi's losing jobs?
The Big 3 is losing more than that right now, but not willingly comply to the 35 MPG standard NOW.
If they did NOW, they would lead the sales that Honda is now stealing because they didn't produce efficient cars.
So the not-so-Big 3 has dug their own grave.
Idiots!!
Tesla confirms Model S sedan, 225-mile range and $60k {Autoblog}
Jun 30th 2008 7:28PM 225 Miles?
Why do people think that is low?
How many people have driven that in the last month or more?
Its at a premium to stimulate the industry, as Lexus, BMW, Merc, and everyone else in the luxury segment will scramble to have the green cred luxury of Tesla, bringing battery price down, and increased demand, as gas prices hit 6$ for no valid reason.
Good for Tesla.
And yes 225 gas free miles will sell much better than something like a same-priced H2 which gets 12 MPG
Change is good!
Chrysler lowballs price of its SUV hybrids, starting at $45,340 {Autoblog}
Jun 17th 2008 7:13PM What a sad entry into the Hybrid market, 10 years after the promising ESX program, this is the best they can do?
Why do they still produce the Asspen?
or the Durango?
GM struggling to recruit engineers for advanced projects {Autoblog Green}
Jun 17th 2008 7:10PM Well, why would a talented, bright engineer want to work for a dud company that makes more Hummers than hybrids?
advanced technologies are only hampered by the Oil Company Stock owners anyway.
They are the status quo, only to progress to barely meet the weak CAFE requirements
The secret life of the Chevy Volt {Autoblog}
Jun 17th 2008 12:03PM You're right, mass producing technology makes it affordable.
Making 1 chevy volt would be expensive, and making 1 EV1 as well.
Honda Civic wouldn't make money if it wasn't for the fact they are selling 600,000 of them, because they get decent gas milage and are high tech.
Yes and 10+ years later batteries are cheaper, and in 10 years will be even 90% cheaper, but GM will still lag behind the technology race.
Why make excuses for them?
Capitalism works, which is why GM, Chrysler and others are failing, yet again.
The secret life of the Chevy Volt {Autoblog}
Jun 16th 2008 9:35PM If GM really wanted to be an innovator, and beat Toyota for green creds, why doesn't it Re-Release the EV1, which they actually have been continuing development on it since its demise, since its well known there was/is still funding for those engineers after CARB essential bent over for the oil, er, car companies and killed the requirements.
Keep developing the Volt, but they must have wanted to go into a recession for killing the EV1 and forcing crap brands like Hummer, that killed their image for a generation.
That EV1 would be selling as much as the Prius, if not more right now.
GM should have pressured Chevron to let them use the patented battery back in the EV1, instead of victimizing themselves, and letting the world know they have lost the technology race to Japan and other companies.
2009 Dodge Ram up to 20% more fuel efficient than before {Autoblog}
Jun 11th 2008 10:01PM Why not stick with the 345 Horses, and drastically improve the MPG ?
It doesn't make sense to raise the power and still raise the fuel economy slightly, when they could apply this to a still strong low-300 hp range, and achieve a truly class leading MPG ?
GM breaking up with Big Oil in new commercial {Autoblog}
Jun 10th 2008 7:05PM Yet they are still controlled by Oil companies, and refuse to build anything for the public that doesn't rely on big oil, and the Saudi Oil Cartel....
Its called green washing, or just plain Lying.
If they were to break up with Big Oil, they would continue producing the EV1 and others, as over a decade later, could have it perfected by now.
