By the Numbers June 2008: Not That Bad Edition {Autoblog}
Jul 2nd 2008 10:04AM Can someone explain how there could be 3 less selling days ? What the hell is considered a selling day? There will always be at least 4 Sundays and every once in a while a fifth Sunday. The difference should never be more than 1. Who decides how many selling days? It sounds more like PR junk than anything else. Clarification would be appreciated.
Spy Shots: 2010 Ford Fusion features Super Sized screen {Autoblog}
Jun 11th 2008 4:29PM Oh, boy! Let's put more stuff in cars to distract the driver and cause more accidents which will lead to more required safety items which leads to higher prices. Yup, isolating a driver even more from his/her vehicle is the way to go.
Welcome to the New Cinematical! {Cinematical}
Jun 11th 2008 8:41AM The change is OK except for one big (or should I say "small") item: the font is way too small. I know you want more space to get in more advertising, but your old font size was much more readable for old geezers like me. i'll miss you all.
A little background on Mahindra and the Scorpio hybrid SUV {Autoblog Green}
Jun 7th 2008 7:43AM While not the best looking SUV(?), if it gets exceptional mileage and has descent quality, it will sell. Proof of point is the Prius, a fugly thing, yet it sells because of the mileage it gets for some people (urban drivers). I have a '99 Forester that is beginning to show its age and mileage, and I'd certainly give this consideration. Now, if Subaru brought their diesel to the US, I'd jump at the chance to get one.
Rumormill? Infiniti G37 sedan coming in 2009 {Autoblog}
Jun 2nd 2008 2:05PM This horse power race in sport sedans is getting obscene. I'd be more impressed if they could keep the same level of performance and driveabilty and improve mileage 10-20%. Their engineers must be high school boys who still think the only way to improve is to make bigger. I think the reduction in sales may finally get their attention. Then again, maybe not.
While waiting for hybrids, Holden adds Astra diesel {Autoblog Green}
May 29th 2008 9:51AM No one should be surprised that just as the availability of clean diesels arrives, the price of diesel fuel jumps beyond all rationality. Producers, distributors, dealers all make money on the number of gallons/barrels moved. Why charge a reasonable price on something which reduces the number of gallons/barrels moved. Well, that's my conspiracy theory for today.
Del Toro Not Right for 'Hobbit'? {Cinematical}
Apr 27th 2008 12:06PM Personally, I don't understand all the fuss over del toro. The 3 movies of his I saw ranged from mediocre (Pan's Lab.) to just awfull (tie between Blade II and Hellboy). While he does have an interesting visual style, he is not good at telling a story. He's going to screw up the Hobbit big time, even if Jackson does leave him alone. The Hobbit is a great narrative and needs a director who can carry that. del toro is not that director. IMHO. Jake
Volkswagen drops "Passat" sticks with "CC" for new sedan {Autoblog}
Apr 3rd 2008 10:37PM Hmm, let's see. VW is bringing back the pheaton (sp?), has the tourage, now upscaling the pissat. All of these are grossly overpriced vw's. Why buy a pheaton when you can be an audi 6 or 8? Why buy a tourage when you can buy a porsche? Now again they are going into audi territory with the CC. There are a whole bunch of people who need to be fired from this company. Utter stupidity is so funny (and painful).
New York '08 Preview: 2009 Nissan Maxima leaked on forum {Autoblog}
Mar 18th 2008 8:58AM This is a gorgeous sedan. The CTS wishes it looked as good. However, will it be priced close to the Infiniti or the Altima? What will differentiate it from those twos successful models? Hmmmmm?
Think gas prices are bad? Diesel prices are worse! {Autoblog Green}
Mar 14th 2008 9:54AM Maybe in my old age I'm getting too cynical, but it seems less than conincidental to me that diesel over gas prices have taken a huge jump in the last few months just as the clean diesel vehicles are arriving. The oil cartel (producers and distributors) manipulates these prices at will. Remember last year or so when oil hit $70 a barrel. Here in CT, the price for regular gas jumped to 3.15-3.25/gal. As oil continued to climb, the price of gas actually declined to below 3.00. It wasn't until it hovered a while at $100/barrel that gas prices started climbing again. If you think that market manipulation isn't taking place, you have your head in the sand. All this is to say, they don't want us buying this diesel vehicles.
