Would you bike more if you had a separated lane? {Green Daily}

Mar 26th 2008 2:07PM I do ride my bike for certain errands. I would ride more if the bike lanes were wider - preferably protected from auto traffic which is pretty fast around here. And like an earlier posted wrote, it's common for drivers to make really fast right turns in front of me while I'm in the bike lane. I've tried riding on sidewalks if there are no pedestrians, but I've noticed that more cars seem to turn right in front of me probably because it's harder to see me.

Raleigh bans new garbage disposals {Green Daily}

Mar 18th 2008 6:20PM My family traps most kitchen sink waste in the strainer and dumps it in the trash. We actually don't use the disposal. It seems like a waste of water to grind garbage up just to be able to have it go down the sink. I'm curious, are there other benefits to the disposal besides the ability to put more waste down the sink?

So whats the downside to the Tesla Roadster? The range! {Autoblog Green}

Jan 29th 2008 8:48PM I don't think too many people will be concerned the lower mileage. My guess is that a lot of owners wouldn't use this as a daily driver. It's a fun car. One to drive when going to a fancy restaurant, theater, to the golf course, with your significant other on Valentines day, etc. 200 miles, 100 miles, should be plenty.

Bajaj Auto debuts $3,000 car ahead of Tata {Autoblog}

Jan 10th 2008 1:58AM Why does selling in the US matter anymore? India and China (as another example) have easily 4x the population of the US each with economies that are growing faster than the US. There were 6.5 million cars sold in China in 2007, almost half the volume of the US already and gaining. The US is going into a recession.

Dec 20th 2007 9:17PM Actually Cowboy, there's a more to the numbers that Vinnie gives. Ever take a look at the engineering students at our Universities? Lots of foreigners like Chinese and Indians. Hopefully when they'll put their degrees to work for the good ol' USA, but I bet many of them will head back to their home countries to strengthen the competition.

Crossovers not providing the MPGs people want, so they're going back to SUVs {Autoblog Green}

Nov 28th 2007 3:08PM Gary - good for you. I wish more people thought like you. I have a feeling that won't happen anytime soon. Here in urban southern California, many trucks and SUVs are just status (Look at me!) symbols.
- Raised, oversize tires, modified loud exhausts, all the bling accessories you can imagine, and not used to haul anything other than a bad attitude.

For those folks that think they need the cargo capacity of the SUV but could really do better following Gary's truck rental example, I wish some of the rental companies (probably not those owned by the OEM truck makers) could put out some commercials or advertisements that illustrate the value of renting trucks for occasional errands rather than buying them outright.
