GM shrinks Volt's gas tank, range drops from 600 to 360 miles {Autoblog}
Jul 8th 2008 9:44PM Actually, this makes tons of sense. Gasoline does tend to degrade with time, so to counteract people putting a bunch of gas in their Volt and then never use it, a smaller tank should help with the cycling of fresh gasoline.
GM joins California EPA campaign to reduce motor oil consumption {Autoblog Green}
Jun 11th 2008 8:07PM I'm not sure how much oil it takes to make a quart of synthetic, but in my Escort I use to run about a year between changes (10-12k miles) and I'm at 12k right now in my Olds that's getting changed this month. Plus, its supposed to have higher lubrication efficiencies compared to regular oil or even blends.

Jun 9th 2008 10:25PM Strangely, I've seen more Yukon Hybrids than Pontiac G8s on the road. Meaning 1 Yukon and 0 G8s.
Chevy getting new small, turbocharged car next year {Autoblog}
Jun 2nd 2008 10:59PM Does anybody know the specifics on the future-Delta platform (starts '10 model years, I believe) and the new Gamma platform? With the Cobalt moving to Gamma, a more upscale Delta (which, in my opinion, was a bit over engineered for what the Cobalt was going for) car makes sense when the next step up is a Malibu. With a clean slate, this car could be the first great small car from Chevy!

Mazda2 MPS and 280 hp Mazda6 MPS on their way {Autoblog}
Apr 30th 2008 2:30PM Did many people buy the first Speed 6? I believe I've only seen two, ever. One at a dealer here in the states, and one parked outside a hotel I was at in Auckland, NZ. Maybe they only sent one to each country....
Mazda2 MPS and 280 hp Mazda6 MPS on their way {Autoblog}
Apr 30th 2008 1:37PM Isn't the USDM Mazda 6 a completely different car from the rest of the world's Mazda 6? Would it be that we are not getting the Mazda 6 MPS, but something completely different, if anything at all? With the 3.7L V6 probably putting out 270+ HP, whats a 280 HP turbo 4 with a narrower powerband got to bring aside from less weight? It'd just be a AWD and handling/brake package at that point.

Chevrolet announces 2008 Cobalt XFE improvement {Autoblog}
Apr 24th 2008 1:30PM When I was looking for a car, I drove a base Cobalt. The worst part of the interior was the dash, very cheap looking, but hey it was the base model of a cheap compact. I'm not sure if they have an upmodel interior, I think just different color schemes which would have helped a lot. A lot of that interior looking bad is the color scheme. The ride was surprisingly smooth, like 90's Buick smooth. But that came at the cost of body roll, which I didn't like. The nail in the coffin for not getting it was the steering though; I can't do electric steering! Luckily I ran into a low mileage (under 15k) 3.5L Intrigue w/winter package for less than half the cost of a new Cobalt. The mileage is craptastic, but I will gladly pay that extra fuel price for the better interior, better steering and handling, and bigger engine.
The tires on the Cobalt actually cost mileage (1 or 2 mpg), if I remember correctly, to increase ride comfort.
I thought I also read that all the Ecotec's received new mounts and other refinements for 2008; was the Cobalt included in this? If so, I'd imagine NVH would be way down versus '06 and '07 models.

Apr 21st 2008 12:44PM So the V6 is a diesel, right? At almost 100 lb-ft of torque per litre it has to be, otherwise its a blown petrol that stops revving at like 4000 RPM.
