I think 100 miles is the milestone (;D) where EVs start to make sense in an urban enviroment, and three wheelers is the way to go for weight and size. Way to go!

Nov 5th 2007 2:15AM I think this would be a great thing for commuting and stress; having time for a nap or just forget about the traffic reading the RSS while the car drives you to the work through the slow traffic lights. The low speed enviroment of the cities would be the perfect place to deploy this until we can trust them on the highways for long trips.
One thing I realized about the cruise control over Spain is that I tend to drive slower and feel better about arriving not so soon. Not to worry about driving for hours would be just peachy.

Oct 15th 2007 2:05PM I think Martin is right in oh, so many senses! By catering the high market first they are getting the money from people with a lot of patience (usually) while creating the contacts and specially the supply. This is the most important part!
Look at RED, the dream 4k camera from Jim Jannard; he and his team created a great camera from scratch but they had delays because of unreliable supply sources (Sony, Panasonic, GM or Ford don´t have this problem). If they explain the reason for that delay, people wait because they get the best camera possible, from a company they trust and, anyway, the other companies DON´T HAVE ANYTHING LIKE THIS, and won´t have in a couple of years, if ever.
If they do this with a cheap car, and I can say it: ZAP! The millions of customers waiting for a cheap electric car will be very upset, won´t trust them, think they are hoax and the big ones will play this card against them too if needed.
Tesla is doing the right thing.

Oct 6th 2007 12:38PM I will tell you my story. My mother in law wanted to change the car (a Toyota Corolla) and she didn´t have idea of cars. So I recomended an automatic diesel and she wanted hachtback. Toyota didn´t have this combination so we went to Volkswagen group. She´s a lawyer, so no Seat or Skoda. At the end we choose an A3 TDI 140 hp DSG. I´m a typical manual driver, but, oh man! I felt in love instantly!
After this, my father got a Golf TDI DSG and I hope to get another one in the future unless they get a diesel-hybrid version. DSG is a miracle!

I´m sorry, but i´m getting tired of so many prototypes for 2010... I want real solutions now, or at least when the barrel reaches 100$ which won´t take that long, looks like.
