Geneva '08 Preview: Volkswagen Sharan BlueMotion {Autoblog Green}

Mar 14th 2008 7:23AM Yes, and it is too bad they didn't at the very least bring the T5 version of the Eurovan. Mexico has the T5 diesel version that gets around 33mpg already (I guess they thought I'd be happier with the gas version that gets half the gas mileage). We can't have the diesel VW van in the U.S. And then to get further slapped in the face to find out the 2009 VW van will be built by Dodge based on a Caravan platform. I'd rather take a bullet in the head than even look at the new 2009 VW van. Horrific to even think VW would destroy the bus heritage with a Dodge Caravan. Forget about it.

VW Golf TDI Hybrid: too expensive for America? {Autoblog Green}

Mar 14th 2008 7:14AM Unfortunately, VW did the same thing with the Eurovan T4. They offered the gasoline version, which my van gets on average 15 to 17mpg (it's an EVC) and the diesel version which is available in Mexico (not in the U.S.) get over 30mpg. And they have the new T5 with a manual. I'd pay a $10k premium to have that van, but it's illegal to own a T5 because it hasn't been certified by the EPA/NHTSA. :(

Personally, I'd only not buy the 69mpg diesel hybrid if the air conditioning system wasn't electric. To me that is the only requirement I have for a hybrid that the A/C be not gasoline compressor based, but electric like the Prius/Yukon.

But what did VW do...they cancelled the Microbus and are now allowing Dodge to build a VW bus based on a caravan platform. Disaster! VW is looking for high production sales at the sake of quality. Oh well, I won't buy the new van and my next vehicle won't be a VW until they can get their act together in the U.S.

LA 2007: Chevrolet Silverado Two-Mode Hybrid {Autoblog Green}

Mar 13th 2008 11:37PM How long will the air conditioning stay on with the motor turned off. There are many times that I'd like to take a nap or a long sleep on the road and this would be much safer than rolling down the windows or running the motor to keep it cool.

An hour, two hours, etc?

Will the motor start up automatically if the battery is dieing due to the A/C being left on? Seems almost too good to be true.

Apr 7th 2007 4:13AM Dual-Link? Did Nvidia finally put dual-link in their 8 series laptop cards. While I prefer Nvidia for desktop cards, they completely forgot dual-link DVI for laptop cards. Therefore will this be 1.3a or 1.3b?

Intel rolls out first Core 2 Duo ULV processors {Engadget}

Apr 5th 2007 10:24PM Will an individual be able to purchase just one of these processors? It seems like when I was looking for a ULV processor for a mini-ITX board I wanted to build the only thing the public could buy was LV processors. No? Is this only for manufacturers?

Rumor rehash: Apple MacBook ultraportable coming soon {Engadget}

Feb 16th 2007 2:56AM Well, make it a 12" macbook pro with ati 1600 graphics card, not a crappy macbook with integrated graphics. If you do that, then I'll buy it but if you put a crappy graphics card in it...i.e., anything less than a 1600 mobility then expect the same sales as the crappy 13.3".
