British scientists develop CO2 to natural gas process {Autoblog Green}

May 10th 2008 3:28AM Let's say they find a way to do this efficiently, wouldn't it make more sense to route the natural gas back to the power station (where the CO2 produced can be recaptured and reconverted) rather than directing it to fueling cars where it can't (or at least where it will be much harder).

No plug? No Problem. MIRA Debuts the "Plugless Plug-In Hybrid" {Autoblog Green}

Apr 25th 2008 6:34AM £2,000 for the whole lot is what they're aiming for. It'll take some time to get there but if they do, I suspect they will go far.

"Experts" express skepticism of Volt program's success {Autoblog Green}

Apr 21st 2008 5:07PM A bit off topic but has anyone seen a life cycle analysis (carbon preferably) of NiMH batteries?

London's Congestion Charge will increase CO2 emissions? {Autoblog Green}

Apr 14th 2008 4:41AM This focus on emissions within London is misleading in my view (although necessary I guess from TfL's point of view).

Looking over the life cycle of the cars which will be bought as a result of this policy, emissions will be greatly reduced. All those people who would have bought Band G cars buying Fs and Es. All those people buying Band B cars who would have bought Cs and Ds. That's going to add up.

Flybe considered filling airplane seats with actors {Autoblog Green}

Apr 1st 2008 4:54AM Why does this blog only have to deal with cars? Lighten up!

This is an insane story and I had to check the date to make sure it wasn't an April fool. The airline industry is becoming more and more farcical by the day!

UK road tax scheme appears to lack any logic {Autoblog Green}

Mar 27th 2008 5:39AM Interestingly the three largest of the new bands in terms of new car sales are G, F then E. A higher band D is logical from a revenue raising perspective (which this is) because the market will shift down the bands towards D. Therefore it's not entirely surprising that D is weighted a little higher.

UK road tax scheme appears to lack any logic {Autoblog Green}

Mar 26th 2008 8:06PM With the number of 120g/km and better cars that will be available by the time this comes into force, it might drive people even further in the right direction? But £60 is about the same as one tank of fuel now so will it really make much of a difference if it's a £20, £30 or £40 jump?

By the way this change to the vehicle excise duty came from the Chancellor (Secretary of the Treasury?) and so comes from central government rather than London.

Eco-towns in the U.K. post 15 mph speed limits {Autoblog Green}

Mar 26th 2008 6:47PM Wow, the concept of car-free cities and towns still needs a little development here.

Eco-towns in the U.K. post 15 mph speed limits {Autoblog Green}

Mar 26th 2008 8:54AM This has been widely reported as being an environmental measure but it can't be because it would increase car emissions. So is it a measure intended to discourage people from using cars at all? If that's the case it's misguided.

Offer a selection of cheap, clean, predictable, fast public transport and the residents of these towns won't want to use their cars for their day to day journeys.
