Jul 19th 2008 7:55PM California had a good reason for more severe pollution controls with respect to NOx, unburnt hydrocarbons, and the like - they gathered in the stagnant air around LA.
CO2 and global warming, otoh, is a global issue. There is no reason why it should be handled differently in CA than in any other state. We're all in this one together.

The Volt battery pack is expected to cost more than $10,000. Mitsubishi may not have that economy of scale. Nearly $20,000 would not surprise me.
Look at the cost of the Tesla for a better idea of the price of battery electric conversion.
