May 6th 2008 6:03PM Your use of co-generation is sort of wrong (unless you are converting its heat to some sort of useful energy).

Cogeneration is the production of electricity using waste heat (as in steam) from an industrial process or the use of steam from electric power generation as a source of heat.

Apr 17th 2008 5:32PM If Michael Kadie is in on this, then be prepared for some bumps... He hasn't been in the EV communuity long. He took his savings and built ONE car, that doesn't make him an expert. He hacked together some A123 batteries, zilla controller and a netgain motor for his Daytona Kit car, now he's trying to sell the "system" to the guy that does car modifications?

I'm not sure what to think... seeing Kadie's car at the John Wayland 10th Annual Invitational wasn't that impressive. over 13 seconds and 95mph... true it wasn't "tuned" and he even said himself he's not a great driver... but I don't know if those numbers are vapor or if they're real.

And I'm not sure if they've redesigned their own system. Its far from a Tesla... but then again he has money to throw at his car. If its what is in his Daytona, $80k is a bit much. just the netgain and zilla are 8 grand, another 30k for the car, so thats 42k for labor and batteries?

Wonder if he's planning on buying quantity dewalts for his "conversions"? hahahaha

Converting a Honda VFR from gas to electric at home {Autoblog Green}

Mar 3rd 2008 3:02PM Thanks Jeremy... I'm a daily reader of this blog, and have been checking for other homebrew vehicles, as well as kept up to date on production hybrids and EV's. I didn't think I'd get linked this early, but things are moving fast. I will have at least a 48V version of this bike running within the month hopefully. Just trying to get some ideas on gearing.

Again, thanks, and anyone please feel free to contact me through evalbum:

Pulse soldering iron {Hack a Day}

Oct 10th 2007 2:38AM Deadfool, all the soldering Irons I've worked with aren't grounded... whats your point? When soldering electronics, you should use a ground strap. Soldering irons are not a source of ground, in fact, can be isolated with transformers.

Tuesday mini-extra {Hack a Day}

Nov 22nd 2006 5:22PM I never even read that far, i stopped reading when he hooked his ipod to the speakers...

bsaically this guy doesn't have any idea. He acts like its a few water hoses hooked together... if you attach a few together, the water will flow.

He's got some major flaws to his "design"

this is not a hack and should be removed, in fear that some 16 year old kid with a new car is gonna try doing the same thing.

most headunits are NOT made to have each amp bridged (which is what it SEEMS he's trying to do)

translation: this "hack" isn't even worth reading
