Air India pilots doze off -- jet wanders off through Indian airspace {Gadling}

Jun 28th 2008 8:03PM "...the incident is now quietly trying to be brushed under the rug..." ???

Incident to brush: Here brush! Over here! Brush me under the rug, please! Please? Push harder. We aren't at the rug yet.

Rug to Incident: Why don't you try and get brushed under something else?

Brush to Incident: I don't brush "Incidents"

Do You Prefer Wet or Dry Shampoo? {AOL Hot Searches}

Jun 25th 2008 8:10AM A O L Hot Searches is nothing but glorified advertising parading as "research". No matter what the topic (food, autos, hair care, etc.) it all culminates in positive spin and advertising for a few select products and dealers.

JCPenney's "teen sex" ad [updated] {ParentDish}

Jun 25th 2008 1:21AM I'm glad to read all of the reasonable comments here that condemn the ads. Clearly the writers of the ad gave very little thought to the impact. I have noticed a trend with many company's ads going beyond good taste and to the point of nonsense to advertise a product. Have you noticed, we often forget what the product is? Sometimes I simply can't make sense out of commercials at all. Advertising agents seem to have carte blanche. Companies seem to be unaware of ad content or they are too out of touch to understand the intent and impact of the ads. Too bad if they are too dumb to pay attention while amateurs and fools ruin their company image with ludicrous advertizing. I agree with others, DO BUSINESS SOMEWHERE ELSE. If JC Penny is so blasse they don't pay attention, they don't deserve my money.

Bank robs customer: a cautionary tale {WalletPop}

Jun 19th 2008 10:53AM Citizens bank tried to bilk me too. Recently, a business paid me money owed to me with a check drawn on Citizens Bank. When I tried to cash it at Citizens they told me I needed to have an account with them and that I could open an account for FREE. Rather than argue, I decided to let them waste their time and expense and open an account from which I withdrew nearly the entire amount from my FREE checking. One month later, they charged me $25.00 as a registration fee for a BONUS POINTS plan I never asked for. I believe an employee signed me up for some kind of employee incentive program for his own benefit. They refunded the charge when I called to complain.

I agree with this article. This customer should have been reading their bank statements. I have not ever had a bank account where they did NOT make mistakes and overcharge. It's ALWAYS in their favor too.

In this couple's case, I believe the bank would have done well to offer more than three months' refunds as a gesture of goodwill. But, they are under no obligation to go back further than 3 months. That practice has been in place for decades. People, you need to read your bank statements. I guarantee you will find something amiss at some point in time. Just don't let it go unnoticed. Also, if you bank with Citizens you better watch your back. THEY come first, NOT YOU.

Daddy Dearest -- The Best Movie Dads Ever {Inside Movies Blog}

Jun 15th 2008 1:30AM I go with Atticus too! Absolutely Atticus! The movie, the book, the role helped the cause that paved the way for future actors like Will Smith. How can most people's favorite movie of all time about a dad and his kids NOT have the #1 dad? Recount!

Hot Seat: Should GOP Target Michelle Obama? {Political Machine Blog}

Jun 13th 2008 12:50AM I grew up all during the civil rights movement era in the 60s and the ensuing generations coming of age in the decades of Affirmative Action. Those dreams and ideals have not worked because the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was stopped midway through his message. He left off at preaching a strategy of "agitation" for blacks to insist on equality.
But, there was no direction beyond that cut-off. So, while white people were stepping to the rear of the employment lines to give a boost to non-whites and watching their kids rejected from schools based on quotas, those minorities benefitting from advantages were so busy "agitating" that they didn't DO anything to improve themselves or their kids with the advantages given them. This has gone on and on as those of us who sacrificed for the noble causes have recently begun to wake up and realize our lives were set back for decades and for what?! The agitation and false indignation remain etched in the face of the Obamas. They have not earned the right to still be agitated.

King is long gone. Bill Cosby is the closest I've seen to any black person standing up and saying, 'Hey, wait a minute you guys! You aren't doing crap my black brothers! What are you waiting for?!' The country is still stuck with disfunction. I don't see the Obamas helping that at all. Rather, I see them as perpetuating the stagnation of this nation. I see it written all over Michelle Obama's face. This agitation and indignation does nothing constructive and never has.

Is Obama Black? {Political Machine Blog}

Jun 10th 2008 5:14PM Obama has used the phrase, "typical white folk" in his public and non-public speaking. That is racist talk. Obama is a racist and a hypocrite. He is half white yet refers to himself as black. Barack Obama is a multi-racial, racist, hypocrite. Furthermore, how can people insist Obama is black when he is clearly multi-racial? History will not denote this man as a black candidate. That simply won't happen, PERIOD.

Six-year-old saves friend from drowning {ParentDish}

Jun 8th 2008 2:11AM Important tip: It's not always easy to recognize when a little kid is tired and struggling in the water. They can be right at the surface one second and gone the next time you look back. When they are too tired to swim anymore they get quiet and usually do a lot of slapping on top of the water before they go down the third time. They get too tired and scared to yell for help. I saved a kid. I remember watching him very closely before I walked into the water fully clothed and helped him out just before he sank. He was done. He thanked me later in the day. His parents weren't paying attention at the party. He had been swimming around a group of kids in the deep end. But, nobody was paying any attention to him. It would have been easy to lose him if I wasn't watching. My point is that it isn't dramatically obvious when a kid is in trouble. You have to be watching closely at all times or keep them out of the pool.
