As much as I loathe them, K-cars have bracketed my life. When I was first dating my wife 20-some years ago in high school, she'd come over after school on her parent's Aries. Later, she had a Reliant of her own, which crumbled into planned obsolescence by 80,000 miles, but not before stranding her in a Boston rush hour when the bottom fell out of the radiator.
I myself was stranded my the Mitsu engine, although that was in a Chrysler minivan, circa. 1993. Two AM and it broke a connecting rod on the NYS Thruway. Oddly, that car was also approaching 80,000 miles.
Later, when WE WERE ON A BREAK, I dated a woman who drove an Omni. Sadly, I was compelled to drive the little shitbag around from time to time. One of her claims to fame, however, was that she had actually owned Jon Voigt's Dart. This was after the Seinfeld episode, of which she remained blissfully unaware.
