A McCain presidency would mean electric cars powered by nuclear plants, clean coal {Autoblog Green}
Jun 20th 2008 2:41AM McCain makes zero sense. Mass transportation is the future. A recent US study suggested that the US as it is has enough surplus power at night to power an electric fleet of cars.
If McCain doesn't mind have the waste in his back yard well thats fine.

Apr 8th 2008 1:31AM It is pretty simple. Vote for light rail/light rail. Yes you will be taxed.
Ride a bicycle. Buy an electric bicycle conversion kit. Ride the bus. Buy an older used car that gets good mpg.

Jan 10th 2008 2:44AM Where I live which is quite in line with the norm.
It is pretty tough to change or reduce your fuel use when there are no other options.
Light rail and rail meet much opposition through smear campaigns.
I have read that tomorrow's cars may drive without human intervention. Great. Now where do you use the rest room? The next great invention will be the toilet seat. The toilet seat for the auto should come before the driver less car for obvious reasons.
It is time that we reuild the rail system so that we can enjoy the auto. Its that simple.

Dec 24th 2007 4:20AM Really, how much do new cars with extreme fuel mileage really help the overall picture in the US?
Is the population decreasing? Isn't traffic just a pain just about everywhere? It's like does anyone actually work? Not when they are stuck in traffic.
Who is it that funds the fight to combat rail?
Why would they should be the bigger question?
The best thing to do is live close to work.
And vote for more rail.

Dec 20th 2007 2:20AM I hope CA follows through with this. If they do and they aren't succesful, perhaps they could just
begin manufacture of there own cars, or just implement a whole lot more light rail and rail.
I can only imagine rail is a lot cheaper to maintain than a eight lane highway. Taxpayers might be interested in this.
Heck it might be a fight. Stop repairing and maintaing an old outdated form of transportation.
If people want to be stuck in traffic then let them do so. But for the rest of us, lets move on.
There is a better road ahead.

Dec 20th 2007 2:03AM "They ought to sell these at Wal-Mart"
I bet most car dealers had such a vehicle. As it is
Wal-Mart may in fact be the place where you buy such a vehicle.

Dec 19th 2007 1:18AM 35 is going to be pretty tough. The rest of the world must feel pretty bad for us. How are we going to do this?
We shouldn't set the high mark so high.
Sure in sports Americans thrive to set the high mark.
And usually do.
But come on. This is the Auto industry where we are usually last. And there is no real drive to do a whole lot better. 35 mpg from a gallon of gas after one hundred years of internal combustion.
I wonder what the first ICE's got? Better?
I know what an Austin America got as well as a CRX and a Metro. But 35?
An uphill struggle.
China investing in something worse than bad ethanol: methanol {Autoblog Green}
Dec 13th 2007 3:17AM It really sounds like cars are just not an efficient means of transportation. A train wreck makes the news. How many cars wreck every hour, every day?
Twenty minute drives take one or two hours.
In the US I think there is 1.13 cars for every person. In China there is like 9 for every 1000.
It is my opinion that the smart manufactures will fall back to the future.
But most of them are in China. And you can see why.
However, when was the last time you saw a car add that depicted reality? There is the new 08 model.
It is shown in stop and go traffic? Grid locked just like the 72 model.
I am not against cars. I love them. The US just needs more, a lot more light rail and rail.
The first to figure this out is going to be?
Fuels and alternative fuels will not solve the problem.

Nov 26th 2007 3:22AM There is no way around congestion when every individual drives. Trains only make sense.
Or just live close to work. :->
The US is a prime example. A minor fender bender on an interstate can cause miles of backups. And car wrecks happen like what every 20 seconds or so?
In the AutoblogGreen Garage: 2008 Dodge Avenger SXT Flex-Fuel {Autoblog Green}
Oct 14th 2007 1:00AM I am not positive about the Aries grill or the Neon trunk/rear end. The fuel mileage appears to be quite bad from what I am reading.
As far as blind spots, thats what happens when sections of a car appear to have been fashioned from a sixty's mustang. Not the first Dodge to do so.
And I love ol Mustangs. So I tend to like its styling.
But, I like my Impalas better. And with 31
EPA highway, with a high of 34 well...
I can't wait to try out out my own cylinder deactivation kit on the Impala. 38 is the goal.
Waiting for the manufactures to do something is like?
Of course I could just buy a Honda or a Toyota.
