Lithium-ion or lithium polymer? What's the deal with lithium? {Autoblog Green}
Jan 5th 2007 4:58PM I'm using the a123 cells and lith. poly. I really think the a123 technology is going to great if the price comes down. Not as light as lipo, but safer and faster charging.
Prius to get big brother with 2.5-3L engine {Autoblog}
Dec 29th 2006 4:44PM Ramdom thoughts: Drove my Prius to work today, showing 52 mpg, normally fairly close to reality, I don't know what you guys are doing to get a lot less than that. Like everything else, there is some compromises here and there. I also own a truck for hauling things, and a Mustang for going fast (it's not stock), the Prius is a good fit for me. The tech is neat, the driving experience is unlike ANYTHING out there, I like the idea of being efficient with the gas, can't wait to convert it to plug-in hybrid if it ever gets economical. Status symbol! that's a joke right, I actually get more strange looks and negative comments in MS then when I drove a Geo Metro, so I'm not driving it as a status symbol. It must be human nature to put down new/different/better things.
What I don't get are people that think Honda Civic's are fast and people who say that they don't care about other people's opinions of them but drive big SUV's instead of a roomier more efficient mini-van.
Also, Toyota is getting too expensive, they've got the market, they know it, and the local dealers here make you pay for it, my next car probably won't be a Toyota for that reason, there are other manufactures that make good cars for much less money.
California community revels in homemade electric cars, EV conversions {Autoblog Green}
Dec 28th 2006 10:29AM It will get better and better once we can use batteries other than lead acid.
Take a look at the lithium magnanese cells that are marketed by A123 industries and come in the dewalt 36 volt battery packs, Ultra fast charge and discharge rate, much lighter than ni-mh and WAY ligher than lead acid. The day is coming.

Used Chrysler 300 diesel sells for more than new in UK {Autoblog Green}
Dec 19th 2006 3:04PM ULSD is already standard across the US? If this is so, then I also wonder where the diesels are. I'm waiting for a diesel Prius to replace my current one.
VIDEO: Dodge "Pixie" #1 ad of 2006 {Autoblog}
Dec 18th 2006 1:10PM I had to watch the ad again to make sure you guys were talking about the same comercial I saw.
If you get offended over this, then you are hyper-sensitive. It is a preppy/wussy looking guy, the people that are getting offended are the ones saying he is gay, therefore they should get mad at themselves for having a stereo type of gays being wussy.
I still don't like the commercial, but not due to any hyper-sensitive making fun of gay issues.
"Green Tuners" want plug-in hybrids {Autoblog Green}
Nov 30th 2006 4:13PM Well, I would consider myself a bit more of a muscle car fanatic then a tuner, but unfortunately, plug-in hybrids conversions are still out of reach for your typical car nuts. I have an 2005 Prius, and can't wait to convert it to a plug-in, but the price is just too high! and the electronics still too niche. I also run larger RC planes on electric, and the li-po batteries are just too expensive as is their alternatives for the scale it would take for a car (the technology in m1 cells aka a123 cells looks promising though, works well in my planes)
Homemade electric car built in 100 hours {Autoblog Green}
Nov 29th 2006 9:28AM Ah, one day we'll have access to affordable ni-mh or li-po/li-ion, and I'll think about doing this, my commute is 90 miles both ways.
More Prius body styles on the way {Autoblog}
Nov 2nd 2006 4:25PM Oops, I accidentally bumped my message down to #26, I think it was #18 before. Warning if you reconfirm a message, it will bump it down. Ughh.
Anyway. the reason Prius owners jump out of the wood work to defend us and our cars, is it seems like everyone and their brother is always putting us down. Gets old. Now I know how SUV owners feel in California.

You are the one preaching a false message. I've heard that argument before, and realize that it must be coming from people with inferiority complexes. That's the only reason I can think someone would say such BS.
I bought the Prius because I think the techn. is cool, I love 4 door hatches, it gets good mileage, it's cool that it runs all electric sometimes, and it is a toyota that holds its value. The green part was just a plus.
BTW, I'm also one of those crazy Christians, that sort of breaks the stereo type too. Call me a freak, but I like my Prius. I'm not a Prius bigot though, I'll trade it in before something better comes out that will destroy it's resale value if I have to.
