Jun 15th 2008 12:54PM A few months ago, wasn't there a leaked strategy that acknowledged that currency pressures were going to force them to limit their offering in this platform to the GTI model, essentially changing the Golf/Rabbit's positioning? The lineup would be augmented by a smaller- and cheaper-than Golf/Rabbit vehicle, the Jetta, a more basic/spartan vehicle to replace the Passat, and the Passat CC to continue the upmarket direction established by the current Passat.

Jun 12th 2008 7:47PM Hasn't Ford said something in the past about going to 4-point seatbelts in some of their cars in the 2010 timeframe? While that was, if i recall correctly, about more conventional/staid passenger cars, these sorts of comp-style seats with 4-point belts would be consistent with that, no?

They had a small feature on this, including comments from Porsche engineers about the shocked looks from fellow Autobahn drivers at the sight of a Vanagon cruising at obscene speeds.
