Find more ethanol with DriveFlexFuel E85 station locator {Autoblog Green}

Sep 16th 2008 3:55PM Here is another listing for the upper Midwest (where most of the E85 stations are located) that I think is pretty good and up to date.

1) Go to www.CleanAirChoice.org

2) Click on "E85 Pricing and Retailers Near You"

3) Look under E85 and click "stations"

4) Click on any of the six states, or the complete list link.

Note: we are about to add Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Alabama and Florida to the map as well.

July gasoline sales in Minnesota down 9% while E85 jumps 16% {Autoblog Green}

Aug 26th 2008 1:31PM Thanks for the post, Sam. Yes, it is true that E85 sales are a mere fraction of gasoline sales, even in Minnesota. However, the amount of E85 sold increases every year. Right now, roughly 10% of the state's fuel stations offer E85. How much more would be sold if that number was 25%, or 50%, or 75%? It would be interesting to see. Also, the E85 market is limited to the number of FFVs on the road.

E85 isn't for everyone, but if there is a way for us to reduce tailpipe emissions in 200,000 vehicles simply by switching to a cheaper, largely renewable and locally produced fuel, why not?

We are also very happy to see the increase in mass transit, bike commuting and fuel conservation as well as an increase in E85 sales. As I said, it's a "trifecta" of good news for Minnesota.

"Primarily flexible-fuel and hybrid" vehicles will make up GM's official Republican National Convention fleet {Autoblog Green}

Aug 25th 2008 11:34AM It's confirmed. We will have a $1 off E85 event at a station in a St. Paul suburb (Eagan) on Wednesday, September 3.

Another offer for cheap E85 in SD and IA {Autoblog Green}

Jul 18th 2008 9:44AM You're welcome, Xavier. Note that the Kum & Go stores are located in South Dakota and Iowa, not South Carolina and Iowa.

We expect a good crowd of folks from the Sioux City metro area for both events. Participation has been up sharply at this year's promotions -- I suspect that $4 gas was the "tipping point" for many FFV owners to try E85. Also, the price spead has been vary favorable, especially in Iowa.

Should you put E85 in your non E85 car? {WalletPop}

Jul 16th 2008 12:11PM I think you are confusing E10 (10% ethanol, 90% gasoline) with E85 (85% ethanol, 15% gasoline). There are no stations in the USA that offer "E85 only."

Your vehicle should operate fine on E10 (as mine does). It's also okay for small engines. The jury is still out on E10 in marine (boat) engines..

Jul 14th 2008 2:15PM "I have yet to find a station that sells E-85 for less than E-10 after adjusting for energy content."

I suspect you are using bad math, J in MN. Either it is cheaper, or it's not. Every driver is going to have to figure how many miles they get on E85 instead of E10 in their FFV, then do the math.

Saw a station in Sacred Heart, MN last week selling E85 for $1 a gallon less than E10. Tough to beat that price.

Jun 19th 2008 4:44PM In a word, no. It's not a good idea. However, we do recommend it for flex-fuel vehicles. Read more about E85 at this site, from the American Lung Association of the Upper Midwest.

Minnesota passes law that will require B20 by 2015 {Autoblog Green}

May 15th 2008 10:23AM I was pleased that at a time when some politicians are calling for rollbacks in less polluting fuels, Minnesota is moving forward.
