Speed cameras in Arizona nab driver 22 times in 45 days {Autoblog}
Jun 26th 2008 2:40PM On the surface it sounds bad, but what's the criteria for the speed cameras? Locally, the DOT tried cameras, but discovered that people were being busted for going just ONE mph over the limit. While that's technically "speeding" the courts were not amused. Everyone's time nd money was being wasted here. The holier-than-thou person running the program was reassigned elsewhere and the cameras pulled. So this girl might be a punk, but who really knows.
2009 Mazda6 caught in the wild, sort of {Autoblog}
Jun 17th 2008 3:13AM 1. you have to spend money to engineer the V6 to work with a manual. Or vice versa.
2. you have to certify (aka federalize) this powertrain combo with the EPA, which costs money as well.
If the combined costs of 1 & 2 aren't recouped in sales, which apparently Mazda doesn't think it will be, then of course they aren't going to spend the money in the first place.
BTW, I have mixed feelings. I own the current-gen 6 and think the new one looks great, but I also think it's too big for my liking.
For those who think the new 6 looks "droopy" feel free to buy the fugly Camry or boxy, awkward Accord.
ABC planning The Prince of Motor City hour-long drama {Autoblog}
Jun 8th 2008 11:21PM Perhaps because it sounds similar to the movie "Betsy" starring Tommy Lee Jones. That movie had the audacity to put a gas turbine motor in a Pinto. I believe they were claiming 60 mpg in the movie :-)
Sorry Bernie, Mosley wins vote of confidence {Autoblog}
Jun 3rd 2008 3:45PM Good. Now SS Ubërfuhrer Max Mosley can complete the ruination of Formula One. Might as well finish what he started.

May 8th 2008 7:34PM Bernie sucks, but the FIA is run by SS Oberfuhrer Max Mosley. He's the one who's so anal about costs, yet continually introducing new regulations that costs $$ for the teams to implement.

Ferrari's son to buy stake in Pininfarina, too {Autoblog}
Apr 30th 2008 12:24AM Piero is Enzo's illegitimate son, made 'whole' sometime later. Enzo even gave him 10-percent of the business, back in the 1980s IIRC.
SPOILER ALERT: Crashes aplenty at the Spanish Grand Prix {Autoblog}
Apr 28th 2008 3:16PM For better-looking F1 cars we may have to wait for 2009 when the new rules limiting downforce come into play. Then, maybe, all the "Viking" wings and fins and stuff go away.
SS Oberfuhrer Max Mosley either retires or gets his ass fired by then, so maybe stupid rules like 2-races-per-engine go away and then teams are actually allowed to deliver an improved car every weekend.
Tata to take stake in Pininfarina {Autoblog}
Apr 28th 2008 3:06PM Pity neither Toyota or Honda tried to buy Pininfarina. Both companies desperately lack the design talent Pininfarina could have provided. At the very least the Italians could have (gently, of course) hinted to the Japanese that they might need new eyeglasses.
Imagine what the designer of Ferraris could have done for the 2009 Pilot.
