New Chevy Captiva diesel CUV gets 32.2mpg combined! {Autoblog Green}

May 16th 2008 12:49PM I was there for an extended vacation a year or so ago. I would like to preface this with the admission that that I am a diesel fanatic. There definitely is an issue with pollution and I would not want a massive number of diesels to be sold here without the particulate filter. The main issue with selling diesels in the US is the idiotic NOx regulation that is based on junk science.

Big Oil launches counteroffensive {Autoblog Green}

Apr 12th 2008 3:39PM Well said Evan.

It is not "them" is us that is the problem.

I have the same issue when people complain about "The Gobment'" when THE PEOPLE are the government in the US. If you do not like it get off your ass and DO something and quit complaining.

I bought a 40mpg car last year to do my part, I would rather have a plug-in hybrid but this was the best option for efficiency that is easily obtainable.

Color-shifting roads warn of ice {Autoblog}

Travis Pastrana invents and completes the hydrojump {Autoblog}

Mar 27th 2008 3:14PM Seriously, I have hydroplaned my dirt bike across 40 to 50 feet of water many times. It is not as hard as it looks…You just get it up to about 60 mph in high gear and put your weight on the back wheel and accelerate as you cross the water. You must be sure that the land meets the water at a gradual angle or it will not work and you will end up over the bars. the other thing that you must watch out for is the water coming off of the front wheel will try to push your feet off of the foot pegs and cause you to flail off of the back.

Now hydroplaning 110 feet and then jumping, that is a serious feat. Of course this is the guy that jumped out of an airplane without a parachute “Point Break” style.

Mar 15th 2008 7:13PM Pork, pork, pork, pork, pork, pork, pork, pork, pork, pork, pork, pork, pork, pork, pork, pork, pork, pork, pork, pork, pork, with a side ear marks.

I am no fan of McCain but if I can convince myself that he will do what he promises, which is veto any bill with earmarks, I will vote for him. Actually, I do not care about any other attributes that a candidate has, if they vow to add a balanced budget amendment to the constitution and not raise taxes. All of this pork would be irrelevant if we weren’t deficit spending ourselves into oblivion. Once we fix our monetary issues we can focus on all of these other issues that our country faces.

Irony: Red light cameras a safety impediment {Autoblog}

Mar 14th 2008 3:59PM Texas state legislature passed a law about a year ago that red light camera fines could not exceed $75 and that speed cameras are not allowed by municipalities.

If any of you have any questions about the motivations of the people involved with approving these devices please read the comments of Texas Transportation Commission Chairman Ric Williamson in this link: http://www.thenewspaper.com/news/19/1947.asp

Also, It looks like red light cameras will be outlawed September 1, 2009 in Texas.
