Tjaarda and HST International now taking orders for all-electric Mustang and Shelby Cobra {Autoblog Green}
Apr 18th 2008 3:15AM I wasn't going to respond because I don't care how many of the vehicles I'm credited for (although for the record there are 4 at long beach grand prix and two torn apart for parts at my house).
The thing that is import is the car. First it is $80,000 plus a donor mustang. Second it include a tjaarda body kit (designer behind the Pantera among other cars), upgraded body kit, show quality paint job (which cost $8000 on my Daytona), custom water resistant cnc cases, integration into ford computer and cluster, an electric drive train that I like, 15-20 kw/hr of K2 lithium iron phosphate batteries (professionally put together), upgraded italian leather interior, working airbag system, and all in all a whole lot of time, research, and money. And the funny thing is it cost about the same as the super-charger / style / suspension kits for the Mustang.
So what I'm saying is why am I even writing this? If you saw my car in Portland you know the numbers aren't vapor and you know that I had never driven down the drag strip before and if you check out the videos on my website you know that I have improved significantly. OH I am saying this because there is a lot to the Mustang and I certainly encourage those people with the time and talent to convert any car they want they will save and enormous amount on labor the is just more to the tjaarda Mustangs than a zilla, 11", and expensive batteries.
