Apr 4th 2008 11:59AM PLENTY of room in the Prius for xtra batteries. The compartment under the cargo floor can almost quadruple existing battery volume. Put LRR runflat tires on it & use the spare tire area for another 50% increase on top of that! Using the existing NMH batteries would get 10-12 mi, which are the mules they're testing worldwide right now. Range would approx. double with Li batteries.

Apr 2nd 2008 3:36PM I grew up with VW diesels, but it's hard to justify that 33% price premium over regular unleaded. It nets you around 26-27 mpg equivelent, which you can choose from a number of domestic & import Crossovers that are roomier, more powerful & significantly lower priced.
