Jul 5th 2008 7:47PM Speed has a HUGE effect on fuel consumption. Travelling at 65mph instead of 55 increases fuel usage by around 20%, set off 5 mins earlier and save a fortune..

Paramount tuners get more for their diesel, 16% more they say {Autoblog Green}

Jun 26th 2008 6:37PM I Have owned Turbodiesel cars for many a year now & have fitted a few of them with these type of tuning boxes. ALL the gizmos i have bought came with promises to boost performance & economy..none boosted economy, all of them boosted performance.

The usual line that the manufacturers trot out is that by injecting more fuel at lower revs the engine runs more efficiently, in reality you get used to the extra torque & rev the motor like you always have. Theres never something for nothing.

Mitsubishi's electric car plans revealed {Autoblog Green}

Jun 17th 2008 3:42PM Re the wheel motors. This is definately the way to go, total brake by wire regen brakes will only be possible with in hub motors, the unsprung mass is little different to a regular disc brake assembly. No driveshaft mass can only help efficiency, will also free up useful space within the wheelbase.

The car i was running back then was mid sized but light, normally aspirated 8 valve Diesel.. 55 imperial MPG. Current car, 18 months old, common rail, 16 valve , turbo.. half a tonne heavier, 45MPG. I know which id prefer to crash in though!!

Softening demand hits GM full-size truck production {Autoblog Green}

Apr 29th 2008 3:31PM I dearly hope its the beginning of the end for these sort of vehicles. Only a tiny percentage of people actually need such a thing. I'm all for freedom of choice but the planet simply must come first.. its the only one we've got!

66% of U.K. car buyers will go green in order to save money {Autoblog Green}

Apr 23rd 2008 5:45AM I think it human nature to put their pocketbooks ahead of anything else, especially if they're raising a family. If legislation & painful fuel costs are what it takes to get people weaned off these ridiculous full size SUV's i see in London .. so be it.
