VIDEO: Camaro TV spots through the years -- some more bitchin' than others {Autoblog}

Jul 19th 2008 7:31PM Just in case anyone's wondering, that text right under the video player is the caption written by the person who originally uploaded the video to YouTube or wherever. It gets sucked in along with the video.

Lutz: No Beat for the U.S., smaller CUVs on the way, Insignia stalled {Autoblog}

Jul 15th 2008 12:46PM MD, here's the rub -- and i hear what you're saying regarding feature creep -- other automakers still manage to produce cars that meet buyers' needs, both from packaging and economic (pricing, fuel economy, etc.) standpoints while also successfully negotiating the United States' regulatory obstacle course.

THAT's why people get pissed off when the Beat is deemed a no-show and the Cruze is still the better part of two years away for U.S. production, even though Europe gets it next year.

Lutz: No Beat for the U.S., smaller CUVs on the way, Insignia stalled {Autoblog}

Jul 15th 2008 12:17PM So, GM doesn't engineer the current Opel Corsa to meet U.S. regs, a decision that looks pretty bad now that a good small car would probably do well here. Whatever, what's done is done.

Then..

- GM plans another new small economy car to be sold globally
- GM debuts three possibilities for this car in NEW YORK CITY
- GM asks Americans to vote for their favorite one. There's marketing dollars, a special website, the works dedicated to this
- The public speaks, a favorite is chosen -- the Beat -- and GM proceeds to engineer it for non-U.S. consumption.

But don't worry, we can "wait for the next generation." I give up.

High gas prices a bonanza for Zipcar {Autoblog Green}

Jul 11th 2008 10:07AM I got the car (an '06) in December, and have put around 3,000 miles on it since then. Since it's a convertible and it's the summer, I am getting good use out of it now. Come winter, I'll probably take the train into work a lot more often, plus I telecommute 2 days a week already.
