Microsoft takes in $60b, sells 180m Vista licenses since launch {Engadget}

Jul 19th 2008 7:08PM @Hamid, I am sure Bentley/Ferrari doesn't give a damn how many cars Hyundai sold last year. Apple doesn't compete with Vista in itself, it's a "luxury" product.

Is it over yet? Oil prices drop like a rock {Autoblog}

Jul 19th 2008 7:03PM @JMC3, you amaze me, what some people will say! Let me first start by listing the biggest oil exporters in the world: Saudi Arabia, Russia and Norway.

Now, that first one is Muslim, the others very much not. Do you think we give you even a cent off our oil? The market sets the price, and you pay it regardless of who you are.

Behold, the iQueue {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Jul 18th 2008 7:40PM Au contraire, waiting in line is the perfect marketing tool for Apple. Not only does it create a lot of attention in the media, it gives the buyers an incredible sense of exclusivity and "community". A sense of belonging to something is incredibly powerful, it's like saying "don't you want to be with the in crowd?". There's a reason all premium brands have "clubs", ever own a BMW or Mercedes?

And what is more important is the sense of personal accomplishment and again status. Your protest adds to it. Why is the product that remarkable, you and everyone else [not in line] asks. Ah, mystery, sexy marketing.

Heck, you even have bragging rights! And you will want to tell your friends all about your wait! Does it get any better for Apple? Word of mouth marketing *and* prime time exposure.

There's a reason Apple's profits are going up and up. I understand it and I'm just a law student/programmer.

Volkswagen considering offering Polo in U.S. market {Autoblog}

Jul 18th 2008 4:39PM Just because gas is expensive in the US does not make it automatically profitable for VW to "bring" new models to the market.

It would require a lot of planning and some reengineering to qualify for the US - and who's to say it will sell? VW moves slowly because it pays for *them* be careful. You are the one lacking brain capacity here.

EU slaps Intel with three more antitrust charges {Engadget}

Jul 18th 2008 2:04AM If Intel stops shipping CPUs to Europe, AMD has a shiny new factory in Germany...

EU slaps Intel with three more antitrust charges {Engadget}

Jul 18th 2008 2:01AM Oh, you are soooo right. Europe is not known for innovation. It's not like we started any Industrial Revolutions or anything.

Heck, that first computer we created (in Britain) never went far. Diesel engines are a thing of the past. Surely we can do better than x-rays, I want z-rays!

That WWW thingy we created at CERN in Switzerland will never catch on anyway. ARM processors are so small! Companies like Nokia never create anything useful or new. And I have doubts about that GSM cellphone network we invented.

You sure are right, I am so happy you opened my eyes to it.

EU slaps Intel with three more antitrust charges {Engadget}

Jul 18th 2008 1:56AM When will fools like you learn? Europe is the biggest market for Microsoft and Intel alike. If they stopped shipping products to Europe they would lose huge amounts of money! I suspect you have very little education.

Also, this is in YOUR best interest! AMD should be allowed to compete on an equal playing field. What Intel has done is terrible, if Intel wins on technology alone fine!

What is your problem anyway? AMD and Intel are both American companies. The EU is standing up for the weaker party in order for there to be MORE competition and better products for consumers everywhere!

Further proof that future Fords will have Euro flair {Autoblog}

Jul 17th 2008 7:10PM You seem to be forgetting that European car prices are inflated by huge local taxes!

Also that Euro price levels are on average a lot higher due to higher wages, higher prices in general - and considerable extra profit margins just because they can.

Nevermind that converting from Euros to Dollars directly will not get you the US price! Also consider the cost in local terms, how much does a European worker have to work to pay for it.

T-Mobile demands sipgate nix VoIP software {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Jul 16th 2008 6:52PM You mean VoIP software that runs on Apple's iPhone is not related to Apple? A legal issue relating to the use of your iPhone in Germany is not relevant to this blog? I think not.

Apple apologizes for its MobileMe mess, admits bungle on "push," offers 30-days free {Engadget}

Jul 16th 2008 12:00PM But if you are using a Mac you probably don't want anything to do with Microsoft anyway, I know I don't.
