What's happening to the USA!! Have you lost confidence on yourself? Where is the country that putted a man on the moon? Relax, an Audi A4 (2.0 TDI) sells for around 50k Euros, that’s around 70k dollars and the roads are full of them here in Europe, and we have a lower average income than you in the US. If GM really gets the Volt right it could be a game changer.

Popular Mechanics: "Hybrids, beware of diesels" {Autoblog Green}

Dec 28th 2007 2:48PM Mike Z,

The start/stop feature in a modern diesel is not an issue, maybe it requires a bigger battery. For example, the BMWs 120d 320d already have that function as a standard and they are very popular in Europe.

Dec 20th 2007 3:56PM You do not need to retreat too much. For example: BMW 335d with 282hp, 580Nm of torque, 6s 0-62mph and still get near 40mpg. What do you want more?!!
Yes I know... a Tesla. But it's almost twice the price

GM takes Friedman from New York Times to task - CORRECTION {Autoblog}

Jun 4th 2006 3:12AM Strangely GM has very nice, fast and efficient cars in Europe, averaging 45/50 Mpg or more. They use mainly diesel engines that represent in some EU states 85% of car sales. In Europe gas cars are becoming very rare, the makers reserved gas engines for the top end of the market (Porsche, Ferrari, Maserati, etc. ), or for the very low end ( Toyota Yaris, Fiat Punto, etc.)
