GM Hybrid sales slowly picking up some steam: 1,629 deliveries in August {Autoblog Green}

It's a joke people!

Sep 5th 2008 9:10AM Once (if) this thing is made legal for US roads and gets it's EPA rating, how do you think it will compare to the (now aging) Escape Hybrid?

To Boxman's point, I'm curious as well. Battery availability is a massive issue for everyone. Where are they going to come from?

Paris Preview: Hyundai will show new 59 mpg i20 i-blue concept {Autoblog Green}

Sep 5th 2008 9:01AM I'm getting tired of repeating myself, but probably not as tired as the rest of your are of hearing me.

It won't pass US emissions (CRDi helps). It won't pass US safety requirements. The EPA mpg measurements are much more strict than Europe's.

As a result of the above, if they brought this car to the US, it wouldn't get anywhere near 59mpg. Can we stop misleading our readers with sensationalistic headlines already? I didn't think so.

Sep 5th 2008 8:49AM kfj, in areas where it snows, roadspray would completely coat such a device if it were down low. Even up high like that, roadspray is still going to be a problem. Radar based systems can easily penetrate the gunk that accumulates on the front of your car, but a laser system would have great difficulty.

Ford's got tips that can reduce fuel use by 24 percent {Autoblog Green}

Aug 29th 2008 12:43PM Ken, I'm not tired of hearing it. People who read boards like this, already know all this stuff. Most people don't. They see sensationalistic stories about those crazy hyper-milers and don't relate it back to something more practical. It's good to see companies like Ford (and others) pushing that if you drive right, your car will get a lot better mileage.

This stuff may be tiring to you, but it needs to be repeated until it's common knowledge.

Russia Report: GM retailer deals with increased demand, limited supply {Autoblog}

Aug 29th 2008 12:27PM 900 sounds crazy, but we don't know how many dealers there are. If they're the only GM game in town (and within 200 miles of town), 900 is easy

IRC: lightweight cars = higher injury claim costs {Autoblog Green}

Aug 28th 2008 2:49PM I think it's great that small cars do as well as they do. The fast that it's only 12%, impresses me.

People keep looking at crash test ratings and miss the "in their class" part. Heavier vehicles have a safety advantage. Yes, you can put technology into a light car and make it safe. Put that same technology into a heavy car and it's even safer.
