Geneva '08 Preview: Volkswagen Golf TDI Hybrid concept {Autoblog Green}
Mar 2nd 2008 12:02AM @ Jon Dutch - I totally agree! We are talking about a Golf here so there is some elasticity in price that people are willing to pay. I have thought of buying a Prius but the styling is so bad that the car guy in me cannot get past it. Bottom line is if VW comes out with this car I am going to buy one.
PickupPal makes carpooling an online, financial thing {Autoblog Green}

We care to differ - you are allowed to carpool and recoup your costs - you are not however allowed to make a profit. It is up to you to justify what your costs are and what profit is. It costs me over 8k per year for my vehicle, (gas, insurance, leasing, maintenance) - I would like to recoup my costs. Good comment though - thanks for posting.
Cheers - Eric

We do have a rating system integrated - both drivers and passengers are rated on many variables like eBay. The membership fee and pre-paying – we thought of that but man that is a hassle. I don’t like to pay for membership fees or pre-pay anything so I would never ask you to either. Our approach is if we do our job and find you someone to ride with then we get a small commission – if we do not then well we get nothing – makes us work harder. We also have a refer a friend program where if you are a registered member of PickupPal and you refer a friend and they sign up – well you and your friend get a $5 credit to use against our 7% commission. Invite a ton a friends and get them to sign up and you don’t owe us anything. As for the name - you gotta name it something - I don't think it is a seedy name - possibly a bit cheeky but hey let's have some fun! But thanks for taking the time to comment ;-).

Detroit 2008: AutoblogGreen Q&A: Malcolm Bricklin talks about building a PHEV supply base {Autoblog Green}
Jan 20th 2008 1:26AM Awesome post!
That guy is my hero for sure and it is so cool to see what he is up to. That is a visionary way of going about all of it and I hope it is a huge success.
I still remember being at the Science and Tech museum as a kid the day they rolled a Bricklin SV-1 onto the floor for display. At that moment the seed was planted that maybe just maybe one day I could build a cool car - with cool doors. He still has cool doors - that model looks like some sweet suicide doors on it.
Again thank you for doing that interview - that was great.
Cheers,
Eric

"You know, the higher gas prices go, the Prettier the Prius gets!"
That is too funny! I feel the same was ;-).
I was thinking it would be cool to take a Prius and then add a body kit to it. Do the mods make it full electric and at the same time drop some kind of Cobra GT kit car exterior on it. I know sacrilege but still some kind of sweet body lines would be awesome.
I thought if Mazda wanted to breathe life back into the brand they could come out with a Hybrid RX8 - drop out the frills and make a stand.

Canada wants to join the 35mpg by 2020 club {Autoblog Green}
Jan 19th 2008 4:58PM Wow 35mpg by 2020!
Is it just me or are we setting the bar so low we would have trouble tripping on it?
Does anyone else think this is not enough? I love cars and I want to drive them until the day I die. However I would also like to see them become way more efficient and this target just seems too low.
What do others think?

Nürnberg creates navigation system for pedestrians {Autoblog Green}
Jan 17th 2008 1:40AM Interesting article - I was wondering - what is the need for pedestrian navigation? I would not think that there is a lot of demand for something like that. I guess I cannot remember the last time while walking around I thought to myself I really need a GPS. I have used paper maps and maybe Google maps on my blackberry - but a navigation system for walking around sounds neat I guess. What do other readers think?
