Slow sales and new fuel economy regs kill Nissan Titan {Autoblog Green}

Apr 16th 2008 10:52PM Kevin....LOL....you're actually going to chaulk up this win to the greenies? Hello, large truck/SUV sales slowdown has NOTHING to do with tree-hugger types, it has everything to do with the price of gas and people realizing they don't NEED such a large vehicle.

I own a Nissan Armada which is the SUV version of the Titan and I LOVE IT!!! The 5.6L V8 is the best V8 I've EVER experienced in any truck or SUV and I've driven just about all of them...except for the new Tundra/Sequioa. About the only thing that *might* make it better is a diesel engine, but with diesel at $4/gal now I'd rather stick with gas. For a family of 6 that goes camping with a toy hauler trailer full of motorcycles on the weekends the Armada is a nearly perfect vehicle.

Hopefully Nissan doesn't change the Titan/Armada too much using less superior chrysler parts. The cummins motor is the only part I'd happily take from Chrysler which isn't even made by them.

AT&T's prorated ETF gets detailed {Engadget Mobile}

Apr 2nd 2008 11:46PM Really disappointing that this doesn't apply to existing customers! I was hoping when t-mobile offered this I could get out and buy an iPhone. Bummer!

Q Tires testing Celsius retractable-stud snow tires {Autoblog}

Apr 1st 2008 10:44PM if this isn't an april fools joke, that's pretty awesome. I currently have two sets of tires winter/summer. If these worked well in both conditions I'd consider buying them.

Honda CRF250R get a high-performance motocross conversion {Autoblog Green}

Mar 29th 2008 11:28AM Too bad it's not very practical for us motocross riders. It would probably work OK for a race or two before the battery would need to be recharged, and guess how we would have to charge them at the races....with a gas powered generator. Same thing for a weekend of camping and riding in the middle of nowhere. As soon as you get back to the camper you'd have to fire up your gas powered generator to recharge the bike for the next ride.

I think a light weight electric commuter road bike would be much more practical than an electric dirt bike.

U.S. smart fortwo sales so strong, Penske wants 15,000 more {Autoblog}

Mar 25th 2008 4:53PM ah, the "dumb car". People have hybrid-fever and are flocking to these "green" vehicles without actually thinking it through. The fact is it costs as much as a normal sub-compact such as the Yaris, only holds 2 people, only gets 4mpg better despite being much lighter with only a tiny 70hp motor, can't cruise on the highway safely, etc.. etc.. etc..

If this car got 60mpg and costs under $10k (like it should) then I might agree to it being a "smart" choice. But unless you live in a very crowded city without interstate/highway travel then I have to say buying one of these is really dumb.

"the Smart car isn't about being smart. It's about showing how cool/trendy -- and politically correct -- you are."

Diesel + LPG = WOW! {Autoblog Green}

Mar 18th 2008 3:05PM Not new to anyone in the diesel pickup truck community...

I live in Utah where the diesel pickup trucks rule the roads...I swear 1/2 the vehicles on the road hear are monster diesel pickups. I owned a Dodge cummins myself a couple years ago and loved the diesel motor in it. Anyway this trend started years ago in the diesel truck community and it's amazing the amount of power and acceleration by some of these modified trucks. I've seen full-sized 1-Ton pickup trucks beat mustangs and camaros in drag races with a larger turbo and propane injection. You should have seen the look on the kids face in his brand new mustang when he got smoked (literally) by a truck...it was priceless. Diesel engines have mass potential for all the moders out there...in the trucks especially they are de-tuned from the factory so they don't destroy transmissions and other parts. It's very easy to "turn-up" the power and have a lot of fun with diesel engines.

I can't wait to see more diesel powered sports cars like the R8...

First Drive: the 2008 Lexus IS F {Autoblog}

Mar 17th 2008 6:27PM I drove one at SEMA a few months ago (pre-production) and I was really impressed by it. They had a football field sized road coarse laid out for us to go as fast as we dared. Definitly not like any Lexus I'd ever driven before. Unfortunatly the co-driver would not allow me to turn off the traction control, but after he had a bit of confidence in my driving skills he did turn it down to a lower setting to allow the rear end to slide out a bit.
I've never driven an M3 or AMG, but from an average joe's perspective, it was an amazing ride and I was completely impressed by it. It would be an incredibly fun car to drive and even do race-days with. Brakes were amazing, acceleration was incredible, cornering and handling were crisp and very controlled.

I can't afford it though, so I'm more excited about the Pontiac G8!
