Rendered Speculation: 2010 Toyota Prius {Autoblog Green}

Jul 8th 2008 12:29PM Agree with the first comment. WHY!? My 2005 Prius is very spacious and I can't imagine why it would need to be bigger. If my 6'5" bro-in-law can comment that it's spacious then they hardly need to increase the size any.

Toyota seems slightly out of touch and is thinking with it's 90's and early 2000's brain. The RAV 4 just got increased in size significantly as well (it's a compact SUV, why does it have the option of a third row?).

Anyway, despite this rant, the rendering looks nice.

Greenpeace: Carbon capture is not going to save our climate {Autoblog Green}

May 8th 2008 2:12AM While I kind of disagree with their protests as well, I think the spirit of what they are saying is right. In the US, we spend more money on coal R&D than we do on renewable energy. This kind of serves as one example.

What if we were investing the money we're spending on turning coal to liquids, and capturing coal plants pollution, on renewable energy?

The concern here is that our policy, as always, is being dictated by powerful industries instead of good judgment.

Ideally I would like to see us make a huge push for renewable energy, as the studies have already confirmed that we could generate more than enough (with technology like offshore wind farms), and supplant it with nuclear power.

Next-gen Prius to get larger engine, more efficient {Autoblog Green}

Apr 29th 2008 2:10PM I believe the Corrolla's when to 1.8, so this decision is probably based on standardizing on a common engine. As was pointed out, it does not mean that it actually sucks in more gas, I bet if you compare older Corrolla's to the newer ones (when they switched) you will find that the mpg did not decrease.

My disappointment lies with the decision to make it bigger. The Prius doesn't need to be bigger. It seems like car companies can only justify an upgrade by making a car bigger. Especially after they've put all this effort into shrinking the hybrid components.

Suda 51: Only casual Nintendo games selling on Wii {Nintendo Wii Fanboy}

Jan 16th 2008 5:06PM I have really liked the Wii but if this trend continues I don't think it will remain that great too me. I have liked the sports and stuff but when I'm alone I would rather play a game with more substance to it. If his games did well for the gamecube then I can't imagine why they can't do well on the Wii.

That said, the DS is much like the Wii and it seems to do well for third parties so what gives?

In the end, after all the sales are in (US and Europe included), I wonder if it won't have still been worth it for him. Considering the larger costs associated with making games on the other systems and everything it still may make sense in the end.

GM reaffirms commitment to build Volt by 2010, refuses to commit to date {Autoblog Green}

Jan 8th 2008 12:29PM Let's not confuse Dewalt power tools with the necessary specifications to power a car. The energy draw required, along with environmental and safety issues are far more intense (and different). A123 has a promising chemistry, but the testing required is significant.

I thought reaction to the comments made by Wagoner were completely blown out of proportion. It makes perfect sense what he said! The volt has been the single best thing GM has been behind in a long time. This has created PR buzz, resulting in huge branding gains. The fact is that GM is going to do everything in their power to make this happen but that still doesn't mean they can guarantee that this will happen by 2010 (their target). What's new about that?

Japanese rail company to build $45 billion MagLev train {Autoblog Green}

Jan 2nd 2008 2:55AM Mark,
China is investing in Mag-Lev trains to coincide with the Olympics. So there you have it (and they don't have the kind of money the US has either).
