The government wants to know: Why Are You or Aren't You Biking to Work? {Autoblog Green}
May 15th 2008 8:04AM 6 miles from work with a 'rail to trail' for most of the way. It's wonderful with the exception of our summer humidity, and no available shower at the office. I still do it frequently, and just try to go easy on the muggier days.
This was a huge factor when purchasing our home.
Triac to arrive this July, reservations being accepted, and other juicy details {Autoblog Green}
May 14th 2008 8:34AM I'll throw mine in with the hopeful skeptics: if it's a real offer and option, then I'm all for it. (After a test drive.)
As the vehicle goes, I'd LOVE to redesign it's fugly self. I love quirkiness, but it doesn't have to be so unsexy. Still... I'd drive one.
Chris, 3 wheels present a more efficient and viable alternate for many. Just like a motorcycle, if it doesn't meet your needs (snow/safety) don't get one, but drive defensively around those that do.
On a related note, perception of inherent safety is one of the problems bogging down the current line-up of vehicle options, and emboldening the "entitled" driving styles of many. IMHO. Maybe not so H.
Glad to see a potential option that doesn't cater to the status quo.

May 7th 2008 10:27AM I thought the Geo Metro had already perfected this with a squirrel? Or was it a rubber band?
Cool concept on a silly academic-exercise level, like a Rube Goldberg.
So: bake a horse in a greenhouse in the desert while loosing energy in the conversion of its kinetic to electric power to do something the horse does well enough on it's own; moving forward...

The assumptions here are amazing. I poked fun at an undeniably atrocious picture and 1985 Gripen assumes an old white man fetish. I'm still scratching my head.
And from my retort to him, you assume that I've taken a side on the politics discussed above and go about setting me straight. You might want to recheck my previous comments. Not a lick of politics one side or the other.
I generally choose my words carefully, and don't appreciate them taken out of context - as a springboard for a soapbox with a finger wagging back at me - or otherwise.
If you're going to properly approach what you re-quoted above, you need to start with "as for your comment quoted above" which refers to the bit about the fetish. THAT would be following the LOGIC of this tangent. Care to take that one?
Yes. Politics affect everyone personally. But that's nowhere near the point I made. My point was that insults have no place in the logic in a credible debate, and you just showed us why.
Thanks.

Apr 16th 2008 1:33PM 1985 Gripen: "zaedrus: You have an old white man fetish too?"
No, and what an odd assumption to make.
I believe you observed earlier that this was not a flattering picture, and my comment was furthering this observation, if irreverantly.
As for your comment quoted above... too bad you're trying to make a personal dig. When you do that you throw logic out of a civilized debate and turn it into a pissing match.
Not that I've contributed to the civilized debate, but your interests are obviously committed.

Apr 15th 2008 6:15PM Doug, you read my mind for my first thought.
Second thought: When did McCain learn 'the robot?'
Damn, he's got smooth moves.

Apr 14th 2008 8:12AM Just skimming the article, I didn't see numbers for speed or duration of runs. That's a huge factor for real world application.
Still, impressive.

Your spam on this blog is getting laborious and old. Everyone else has done well ignoring your plugs, but I can't take it anymore. Respectfully stop.
HGTV giving away Yukon Hybrid to winner of their Green Home Giveaway {Autoblog Green}
Mar 14th 2008 2:45PM This home is appropriately paired with the two-mode hybrid Tahoe.
While it achieves a gold certification through the LEED program guidelines, like the Tahoe, it could go further in regards to a "green" initiative (like a LEED platinum rating, or *gasp* even going beyond LEED guidelines).
As part of a commercially sponsored program (where sponsors provide mostly new materials and products at a discount for publicity) you're not going to see the most exciting/greenest, means and methods. The Green Home Giveaway (and the lower end of the LEED program's certification rankings) is aimed at making "green" a viable marketing concept for consumers.
Not as hardcore as I prefer, but it's still an exciting project, and I'd gladly accept the prize (whose liquidated assets could fund something more to my taste).
