Minnesota boy rides bike into Prius he didn't hear {Autoblog Green}
May 8th 2008 11:17AM I agree, who forgot to teach this kid to LOOK both ways before crossing the road?????? Let's show this kid how to blame everything bad on everybody else, and then sue them! How pathetic. That said, a small whistle on the front of the car would solve this problem. How much are whistles these days, $20,000?
Toyota wants to know what people think about higher gas taxes {Autoblog Green}
Apr 26th 2008 10:29PM I've been advocating higher taxes for a long time, it's the only way that we are going to get more efficient cars. For proof of that look at Europe. They have the highest gasoline prices and everybody demands smaller, more efficient cars because of it. We Americans act like it's our God given right to have cheap fuel, we'll those days are over. I hate paying so much for gas, but what's worse is that there aren't many choices for efficient cars. I look forward to EV's, when they come out, until then, i'll pay for higher taxed fuel.
Pelosi's replies to GOP's call for a "commonsense" plan to lower gas prices {Autoblog Green}
Apr 24th 2008 4:31PM As far as I see it, high gas prices are changing the way we buy cars. Smaller cars are more popular now than ever and since the price of gas isn't coming down anytime soon, you bet his is the solution.
Xtreme Motorsports to offer a high performance electric sandcar {Autoblog Green}
Apr 24th 2008 4:03PM I don't think that it sounds too high, remember, the car doesn't weight anything, and so it should go extremely far. I often thought about a dune buggy as a wonderful EV, since you can make it with lead acid batteries and still get 100 mile range due to the low weight.

SAE Congress '08: EPA rep says 75 mpg required by 2030s to reach GHG goals {Autoblog Green}
Apr 18th 2008 11:38AM I drive a VW beetle on occasion, I can tell you the 0-60 is around 17 seconds, and I NEVER have any trouble getting on the highway. If the hwy is full of cars, I can guarantee you don't need to go fast as traffic will be slow, if there aren't as many cars, then there would be no problem getting on in the first place, road rage aside.
If you follow the VW beetle scene, Hot VW magazine has been able to take a regular 1600 engine that normally get about 21-24 mpg and routinely get 36-38 by simply modifying it. This is a 30 years plus technology. Now if they can do it with such an old engine design, I'm very sure that they can make a car get 50+mpg with newer technology.

Video: Lindsay Campbell asks Hummer owner what the hell he was thinking...? {Autoblog Green}
Apr 16th 2008 12:26PM This is the dumbest reporting I've ever seen. Did she really ask the lady that drives a Geo Metro (white car before the Hummer)that gets 58 mpg why she wasn't driving a hybrid that get 48mpg? And did she really ask the Hummer guy what he was thinking? Maybe likes the way the Hummer looks, chickee! Someone take that mike away from her, and tell her to go back to school! Hey I'm not for Hummers, but I still think they're great looking cars! That's what he was probably thinking too!
