WSJ tests the OHM XU450 ebike {Autoblog Green}

Jul 19th 2008 2:20PM There are many complaints about cost, but consider how many people drop $2,000 on a bike--just go down to your local shop and check out how many ridiculously-priced bikes are out there. Plus, no insurance costs, no need for a tag, no need for a special license.

On the other hand it's definitely not a replacement for a scooter if you have a medium-length commute, but certainly good if most of your riding is in a 5 or 10 mile radius.

Bottom line, I'm so glad to see the alternatives increasing every day. A combination of better public transportation and gadgets like these could make life easier and the air clean enough to enjoy riding your bike.

Coast to Coast AM tries out HHO (Water4gas) system {Autoblog Green}

Jul 19th 2008 12:35AM No wonder the United States is so far behind in the sciences. Instead of facts we prefer to rely on magical thinking to solve our problems. As George Bush so ineloquently claimed, there is no magic wand.

Craigslist find of the day: Homebuilt electric bike {Autoblog Green}

Jul 16th 2008 4:50PM Nope, it was me. I was looking through the motorcycle classifieds in Columbus, Ohio when I ran into this ad. I think I'll still buy a motorcycle, but you never know what will turn up on Craigslist.

John McCain doesn't know how much gas costs {Autoblog Green}

Jun 30th 2008 3:50PM I agree with meme, and I'm shocked that the story hasn't gotten more play, but indeed John McCain admits from his own mouth that he doesn't know how to use a computer.

He also talks about how he doesn't seem to understand economics very well, which means he doesn't understand how the markets function. Just watch Ron Paul grilling him during the Tim Russert debate. This is much worse than knowing or not knowing the price of gas past or present.

Jun 18th 2008 10:41AM Great, something else for the rush limbaugh types to latch onto now that the "battery-powered cars will be the end to all blind people," argument is getting stale.

Wishing for higher MPG: more people are running out of gas {Autoblog Green}

Jun 2nd 2008 12:39PM As a hypermiler (Sam thinks we all drive hybrids), I don't fill up my tank to save a bit of weight, although I've never run out of gas. Correction, I had a 76 MG back in the day and it didn't have a working gas guage, so I always kept a 1 gallon container of gas in the trunk for emergencies, and an MG is always in one state of emergency or another.

Here are a few dumb reasons why hybrids are bad for us... sigh {Autoblog Green}

May 28th 2008 10:53PM Strange, but the same blogger posted this:

http://www.commercialautodealers.com/gmc-truck-dealership/what-is-gmc-doing-about-hybrids/

So he wants us to buy gas guzzlers, but he says they are busy building lots of hybrids.

May 28th 2008 10:50PM Wow. The only consolation as I read that post is how much this guy forks out on gas every time he fills up his truck. All the money these folks are spending on gas is that much less they will be contributing in the upcoming elections to right wing politicians who would drill the Alaskan wilderness and undercut spending on alternative energy.

Hybra-Drive hydraulic hybrid to undergo HTUF testing {Autoblog Green}

May 11th 2008 10:07AM Yeah baby, I can keep my full-size Hummer! Glad to hear that assaults on the mall, soccer field, and church will still remain viable. I'll go pick up one of those assault rifles the Republicans made legal, some urban camouflage from urban outfitters, and my ensemble will be complete.
