Here in Europe where gas now is around $9,50 a US Gallon all cars are fitted with a lockable gas gap and the fueling stations have camera's all around. I have heard of vehicles, specially build for stealing gas. They have huge gas tanks.

Jun 25th 2008 9:36PM They also state that the ZAP Alias can be delivered right away. Well that can't be correct. Also I am very skeptical on the ranges of the cars that will need a large battery pack to boot and the prices they will be asking. It seems to good to be true. But I really hope they can pull it off!

Performance: 150Kw 0-62 in 4.7 seconds
Topspeed: 215km/h = 134mph
Gears: 4
Range: 325km = 202 miles per change
Price: 108.350 Euro incl. Taxes.

The only thing unsure is the Detroit Electric Subcompact that they want to sell for 22.491 euro. There is no info on that car anywhere else. Even the Daihatsu Cuore seen in the video is a couple of years old.

May 16th 2008 6:35PM Note that the car is being shipped to the Netherlands. Gas is now $9.50 here. So 4645 euro isn't cheap but it isn't that expensive. Well with 19% extra VAT + 1000 euro shipping + dutch car VAT i am not so sure......

May 9th 2008 3:58PM @Ping Well we live in a small country but every morning when I need to commute to Amsterdam I am in traffic 100% change with a minimum of 6 miles.
@Wave54 Our min. Wages may be double that of the US but we really need that trust me. Health care here means a commercial insurance policy of 75 euro. And thats a crappy one. (500 euro own risk) Tax on food: 7% Tax on Cars: 63% Tax on luxury items: 19%. Lets say I earn 2000 euro's a month. 1450,- euro will be in my account and then all these taxes. I really would like to find out if living in the US with such a salary will give me a better quality of life.

May 9th 2008 1:06PM I really do not understand why Americans finds $4.00 a gallon expensive and are even driving less. I live in Holland where gas is $9.40 a gallon and the roads are packed...everyday and mid sized SUV's sell like hotcakes for allot more money (+ allot off taxes)then you would pay in the US for the same car. If gas was the same in Holland then the US, GM could sell Hummers like crazy.
