Battery and ultracapacitor companies get their report cards {Autoblog Green}

Apr 14th 2008 11:12AM "Mike pulls no punches with a frank assessment of each."

Umm, one B, one B+ and TEN A's? Does that mean all these companies are presently delivering safe batteries, capable of poweing a fully BEV for an acceptable range at anywhere near an affordable price?

Good thing he's not grading on a curve.

Martin Eberhard talks up EVs, clean energy on Maui {Autoblog Green}

Mar 30th 2008 10:31AM Back to the topic at hand...

Maui's trade winds, sunshine and tides are plenty to power the island. As the article states, locals are against geothermal and nuclear is NOT GREEN.

Need storage? Oh yeah, an island full of EV's might help!

Zero Motorcycles to introduce street model, having trouble keeping up with high demand {Autoblog Green}

Mar 25th 2008 6:34PM Finally, an answer.

NYT: normal, affordable electric cars don't exist {Autoblog Green}

Sep 28th 2007 2:41PM EV's are the only solution people. We can't keep using all ICE's, and hydrogen is a scam to "green" up nuclear power.

The situation is extremely complicated, but if the playing field were truly level, EV's would already dominate the market. As it stands now, if we just embraced EV's a little (charging stations in some commercial parking lots, and SMART grids) they would catch on like wildfire.

Unfortunately, we are trapped in the chicken/egg situation right now. The burden lies on small companies and idealistic consumers to start the ripple that hopefully makes some real waves.

My partners and I are starting a company that will offer functional, highway speed, decent range EV conversions. They are going to be expensive because our production will be grossly inefficient because we are so small and if a bigger player comes down the line a couple years from now, they could swallow us whole. But WE DON'T CARE, THESE VEHICLES NEED TO BE ON THE ROAD NOW! If we put out enough EV's in our community to spread awareness and make enough money to just pay rent it will be A HUGE SUCCESS.

Stay tuned....
