GM and Toyota first in line to buy Hyundai Genesis {Autoblog}
Aug 15th 2008 6:59PM The big question is:
how can GM afford to buy such an expensive car?
2009 Ford F-150 officially tows 11,300 pounds {Autoblog}
Aug 5th 2008 3:54PM Rar, what you've got to realize is that the frame, suspension, brake, and drivetrain of this "1/2 ton" F150 is stronger than a lot of 3/4 ton trucks in the 80's.

Jul 28th 2008 1:13PM At 5500lbs curb weight, the Q7 out-weights most Suburbans up to the latest generation.
Even then, it's only lighter by 200 lbs.

IIHS crash tests small pickups, majority flunk {Autoblog}
Jul 24th 2008 12:45PM More emphasis should be placed on training better (more defensive, like bike riders) drivers, rather than bullet-proof vehicles.
Let's face it, I don't care if a family sedan is rated "super-duper" by the IIHS, if you get hit on the side, by a F450 doing 60 mph, you're absolutely toast.
A lot better to train drivers NOT to get into ugly situations.
Chevrolet Camaro SS laps the 'Ring in... 8:20 {Autoblog}
Jul 22nd 2008 9:29PM Do you have any idea what a real "musclecar" would run?
The front drum brakes would be on fire, and its bias ply tires shredding to pieces before it can even finish its 10 minuts lap!

Jul 22nd 2008 9:23PM Make that a lightened Transit, with a Viper racecar breaking the wind, and one of the world's best Ring drivers aboard.
Also, if you know anything about track racing, you'd know that 1:48s difference might as well be as a month.
Try, this, after the Camaro passes the line, count one-thousand-one, one-thousand-two, till you get to thousand-a-hunded-and-eight.
Get the idea?

Jul 22nd 2008 9:19PM I think all this recent discussion of Ring times in the last year or two has got everyone a little biased.
When I heard 8:20, the first thought is that's DEAD SLOW. But then on second thought, 8:20 is actually QUITE fast for the Ring.
This is up there with the E39 M5, E46 M3, STi, C5 Corvette, non of which are "slow" cars.
I bet the previous gen Camaro and Mustang would be lucky to even dip below 9 minutes. Hell, the brakes are most cars won't even hold up to ONE lap on the Ring!

Jul 21st 2008 7:57PM At 500 lbs less, and a more efficient stick shift, the SS would probably smoke the SRT Challenger.
HP wise, I wonder if GM purposely pull these weird, random, uneven numebr to make people actually NOTICE the hp.
Numbers like 425, 450, 350, become "bland" after awhile and people don't notice.
Eaton tapped to produce superchargers for Audi {Autoblog}
Jul 18th 2008 6:34PM That combined fuel economy of 24 mpg is pretty respectable for a 290hp, 310 lb-ft engine. In comparison, the 290 hp Maxima averages 22 mpg (which is already one of the best).
Audi can probably squeeze out another mpg or 2 using a turbo, but the tradeoff in throttle response may not be worth it.
