Cobalt XFE (extra fuel economy) gets 36 mpg {Autoblog Green}

Jun 4th 2008 5:04PM Companies like toyota and mazda need to adopt GM style gearing. Most GM cars have HUGE overdrives and get great highway fuel econ. Toyota on the other hand insists that its cars are screaming on the highway and get bad gas mileage (4 bangers at least) e.g. 4-banger (and it is a banger) Highlander, 2800 RPM @70 MPH. thats ridiculous.

The end is nigh? Camry outsold Silverado in April, gunning for F-Series {Autoblog}

May 20th 2008 6:45PM Stéphane Dumas is correct. The recent reliability with the new Camrys is not good at all, especially for the v6 model and the 6-speed automatic. It has been plagued with problems since the 07s came out. I am not ripping on all Camrys. previous generations have been bulletproof. we owned a 1994 Camry for 10 years, and after 130,000 miles, nothing went wrong with it. Thep problem now is that Toyota has grown so fast that they have a lesser attention to detail and quality than they used to. The general public, however, is largely unaware of this and continues to purchase based on past reputation. We currently have a 2004 Highlander, and let me tell you, it is obvious that it is much less thoroughly engineered than the '94 Camry was.

Thats the point I was trying to make.

May 19th 2008 9:36PM While at least everyone that knows half a lick about cars at all knows that the new Camrys are POS's compared to other midsize offerings.

First Drive: 2009 Ford Escapes, more of almost everything {Autoblog}

May 16th 2008 5:49PM This looks to be a big improvement. The 3.0 V6 is now competitive in the smaller SUV segment. And the 2.5L is now actually a viable option, with more cogs and better (adequate) power. Ford seems to have done its homework on this one, combined with last year's refresh the Escape is back in the game. I'm looking forward to driving one, the last-generation was actually a decent ride. This one looks loads better.
