Lower speed limit movement spreading as John Warner jumps aboard {Autoblog Green}
Jul 6th 2008 11:48AM What percentage of time does the average person spend above 55mph anyway? Most big cities have 55mph limits or less and driving during rush hour people can't move more than 30 on the highway. So it seems to really only effect people living outside of cities driving on open highways. Do we really gain much slowing these people down? Raising the cost of fuel by taxing will cut down on the number of people driving plus increase the flow of traffic.
The occasional time I'm outside of the city driving 55+ I'm glad I'm able to go 75mph here in Colorado because usually it means I'm traveling a long distance. The 20mph difference really adds up over a couple of hours and I'll gladly pay the difference to save time. Traveling at 55+ probably only makes up 10% of my driving or less.
Is the Volt nothing more than bailout bait? {Autoblog Green}
Jul 2nd 2008 5:40PM This guys looses all credibility the minute he said 15mpg. I'm surprised WSJ would publish that crap.

John McCain doesn't know how much gas costs {Autoblog Green}
Jun 30th 2008 3:45PM I'm sure McCain knows roughly how much a gallon of gas costs, but I will admit, his response to the question was just weird. You'd think he would have a better response than that.
GM struggling to recruit engineers for advanced projects {Autoblog Green}
Jun 16th 2008 9:26PM I disagree with the first two posters. I was an automotive engineer working for 7 years in Detroit. I began seeing a mass exodus several years ago. I finally quit and now work in water purification. The general mood around Detroit when I left was what future do these companies have, and where are all of the good benefits going.
VW finishes development of BlueTDI; 60 mpg Jetta coming to U.S. this summer {Autoblog Green}
Apr 24th 2008 2:13PM Armat,
It does not take twice as much crude to make one gallon of diesel versus on gallon of gasoline. It completely depends on the type of crude oil. Plus it's the other way around. One barrel of light sweet crude may yield 20gal of gasoline and 7 gallon of diesel, but one barrel of sour heavy crude may yield the total opposite, 20gal diesel, 7 gal gasoline.
Remember that the majority of crude oil left is sour heavy crude (about 75%).

Apr 16th 2008 8:15PM Golden,
Why are you so scared of someone interjecting their personal beliefs into a blog. Last time I checked we had this thing called freedom of speech. If you don't care about his opinion then don't read his blogs. Go read Fox News, I'm sure their unbiased opinion has something fantastic to say about GW's new ideas.
McCain calls for summer holiday from federal gas tax {Autoblog Green}
Apr 15th 2008 8:11PM Gripen,
We are thinking long term. Eliminating the tax will maybe slightly help the trucking industry in the short term. They are going to be hurting unless prices drop back to $3 or below. So $0.24 on diesel isn't going to help much. Instead it means our Government is going to borrow money to pay for the lack of fuel taxes this summer which we will all pay for later plus interest. In addition, it puts off potentially more people/business' from investing in fuel saving technologies which are going to be critical in the long run.
McCain calls for summer holiday from federal gas tax {Autoblog Green}
Apr 15th 2008 2:11PM So if I drive 10,000 miles this summer (which would be ridiculous to begin with) and my Car/Truck only gets 17mpg, I would save $108.24 this summer!!! Genius I tell ya!!!
First Drive: 2008 Audi A4 3.0 TDI Quattro {Autoblog Green}
Apr 6th 2008 4:10PM Throwback, diesel maybe was 33% higher a few weeks ago, but today it's only 20% higher than regular unleaded. Over the past few weeks is the biggest price difference I have ever seen. Once the winter formula runs out the price difference will be lower.
