<br />What's the most common Pavlovian response to the word "Porsche"? Thinking of people running on treadmills, right? If you had a different though, consider that treadmills were front and center at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this past weekend, where 12 runners set a new world record for the longest distance covered in 48 hours: 539.86 miles. The previous world record of 495.76 miles was set in April 2008. This weekend's event was organized by sports scientists at the Porsche Human Performance Centre, a name that prompted us to make sure it wasn't April 1. This is a real thing, though, and their "careful preparation" and special Adidas shoes helped each runner complete their 45-mile shifts - at an average speed of 11.3 mph - over the weekend. We appreciate what Porsche is trying to do here, but we'll take <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/07/01/porsche-randd-says-electric-911-possible-needs-more-development/">an electric 911</a> when it's ready. Thanks. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/human-performance-centre-world-record-attempt/">Human Performance Centre World Record Attempt</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/human-performance-centre-world-record-attempt/2127023/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/07/58090-g-por-_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/human-performance-centre-world-record-attempt/2127022/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/07/58090-f-por-_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/human-performance-centre-world-record-attempt/2127021/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/07/58090-d-por-_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/human-performance-centre-world-record-attempt/2127020/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/07/58090-c-por-_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/human-performance-centre-world-record-attempt/2127019/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/07/58090-b-por-_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Porsche]<p><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/07/06/porsche-enhances-humans-to-break-world-record-48-hour-distance-r/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Porsche enhances humans to break world record 48-hour distance run</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/07/06/porsche-enhances-humans-to-break-world-record-48-hour-distance-r/">Porsche enhances humans to break world record 48-hour distance run</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com">AutoblogGreen</a> on Mon, 06 Jul 2009 10:14:00 EST. <br />When Porsche's new four-door Panamera goes on sale this fall, it will have two powertrains available: a 4.8-liter V8s with and without turbochargers. The only other powertrain Porsche has committed to is the hybrid system that will debut in the Cayenne next year. Two other options are likely to appear in the Panamera as well. A gasoline V6 is probable, most likely the new 3.0-liter supercharged V6 that is debuting in the Audi S4 and A6 this year. <br /><br />The other option may well be a diesel from within the Volkswagen Group. The 3.0-liter TDI V6 is launching in the Cayenne this year and is the most likely candidate for the Panamera. Given the Panamera's performance capabilities, it could also get the 4.2-liter TDI V8 that's used in the European Audi Q7 and A8. The choice of diesel or hybrid Panameras would help Porsche meet upcoming CO2 emissions regulations in Europe and the USA.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/porsche-panamera-tech-briefing-first-ride/">Porsche Panamera Tech Briefing and First Ride</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/porsche-panamera-tech-briefing-first-ride/1442770/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/000_panameratech_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/porsche-panamera-tech-briefing-first-ride/1442766/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/001_panameratech_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/porsche-panamera-tech-briefing-first-ride/1442769/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/002_panameratech_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/porsche-panamera-tech-briefing-first-ride/1442785/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/003_panameratech_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/porsche-panamera-tech-briefing-first-ride/1442788/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/004_panameratech_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><em><strong><small>All photos Copyright (C)2009 Sam Abuelsamid / Weblogs, Inc.<br /><br /></small></strong></em>[Source: <a href="http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle.ASpx?AR=241207">AutoCar</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/07/01/porsche-panamera-diesel-may-yet-become-a-reality-along-with-hybr/">Porsche Panamera diesel may yet become a reality, along with hybrid</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com">AutoblogGreen</a> on Wed, 01 Jul 2009 13:26:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>eRuf Greenster - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />In an interview with the German magazine <em>Motor Zeitung</em>, Porsche's R&amp;D director Wolfgang D&uuml;rheimer discussed the possibility of electrification of the iconic 911 sports car. Legendary Porsche tuners <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/10/10/ruf-reveals-electrically-powered-911-instead-of-cayman-ev/">Ruf first showed a prototype battery-powered 911</a> called the eRuf last fall and then revealed a <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/03/03/geneva-2009-ruf-greenster-evolves-the-electric-porsche-concept/">second-generation version</a> (pictured)at the Geneva Motor Show in March. The <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/03/03/geneva-2009-ruf-greenster-evolves-the-electric-porsche-concept/">eRuf Greenster</a> was a major improvement over the original and D&uuml;rheimer praised the achievement of the smaller company. <br /><br />D&uuml;rheimer doesn't rule out a electrified sports car in the future, but feels the technology is not ready for Porsche yet. The problem is the size and weight of the batteries in their current state. Even discarding the conventional powertrain leaves the Greenster with a deficit of at least 500 pounds compared to a conventional 911 and no luggage space. As battery technology progresses however, we can certainly expect a battery-powered sports car to emerge from Zuffenhausen in due course. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/geneva-2009-ruf-greenster/">Geneva 2009: Ruf Greenster</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/geneva-2009-ruf-greenster/1399425/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/03/greenster-580-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/geneva-2009-ruf-greenster/1399429/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/03/greenster-580-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/geneva-2009-ruf-greenster/1399428/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/03/greenster-580-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/geneva-2009-ruf-greenster/1399427/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/03/greenster-580-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/geneva-2009-ruf-greenster/1399423/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/03/greenster-580-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://motorzeitung.de/6591/news/der-reinrassige-elektro-porsche-wird-noch-auf-sich-warten-lassen/">Motor Zeitung</a>]<br /><em><strong><small>Photos Copyright (C)2009 Sam Abuelsamid / Weblogs, Inc.</small></strong></em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/07/01/porsche-randd-says-electric-911-possible-needs-more-development/">Porsche R&amp;D says electric 911 possible, needs more development</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com">AutoblogGreen</a> on Wed, 01 Jul 2009 09:33:00 EST. <br />This year's "Professor Ferdinand Porsche Award" has gone to Dipl. Eng. Michael Keller from Temic Automotive Electric Motors GmbH, Berlin, and Prof. Herbert Kohler from Daimler AG, Stuttgart. The pair won the &euro;50,000 prize for their work on lithium ion batteries for automotive applications. The jury from the Technical University of Vienna acknowledged the importance of batteries for electric and hybrid vehicles as the most significant change to transportation in a century. <br /><br />Temic is a unit of Continental Automotive Systems. Continental is supplying a lithium ion battery to Daimler for the <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/04/13/mercedes-benz-sets-august-sale-date-for-s400-hybrid-sedan/">S400 BlueHybrid</a> that goes on sale this summer and will be one of the first mass produced hybrids to use that type of battery. <br /><br />The award was established by Ferdinand Porsche's daughter Louise Piech in 1976. Porsche was an early pioneer in the field of battery-powered cars and built what is believed to be one of the first hybrid vehicles around the turn of the twentieth century. In fact, Porsche's first hybrid was a series hybrid or extended range electric vehicle. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/la-2007-lohner-porsche/">LA 2007: Lohner-Porsche</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/la-2007-lohner-porsche/491595/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2007/11/lohrner-porsche-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/la-2007-lohner-porsche/490520/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2007/11/p02_0894_a4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/la-2007-lohner-porsche/490519/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2007/11/fa-108510,000_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/la-2007-lohner-porsche/490518/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2007/11/fa-108508,000_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/la-2007-lohner-porsche/490517/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2007/11/p02_0895_a4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/la-2007-lohner-porsche-hybrid/">LA 2007: Lohner-Porsche hybrid</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/la-2007-lohner-porsche-hybrid/490543/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2007/11/hav-1016_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/la-2007-lohner-porsche-hybrid/490541/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2007/11/hav-30_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/la-2007-lohner-porsche-hybrid/490540/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2007/11/hav-27_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/la-2007-lohner-porsche-hybrid/490539/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2007/11/lohner-mixte-1901_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/la-2007-lohner-porsche-hybrid/490538/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2007/11/hav-23_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Porsche]<p><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/05/28/ferdinand-porsche-award-goes-to-lithium-battery-researchers/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Ferdinand Porsche Award goes to lithium battery researchers</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/05/28/ferdinand-porsche-award-goes-to-lithium-battery-researchers/">Ferdinand Porsche Award goes to lithium battery researchers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com">AutoblogGreen</a> on Thu, 28 May 2009 18:39:00 EST. Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA) has just installed a huge solar array atop their operations in Ontario, California. With design and implementation from HelioPower and using panels from Sharp Solar Energy Solutions, the iconic sports car brand can now boast of having 135,000 carbon-free kWh a year courtesy of the 372 modules in the setup. That's enough juice to power a fleet of 60 <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/tag/eruf/">Ruf Greensters</a> for a year (<a href="http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/your_mileage_may_vary">YMMV</a>)! It's one of the biggest solar arrays in the area and the locals are impressed enough with their efforts that the Inland Empire's Green Valley Initiative (<a href="http://www.greenvalleynow.org/">GVI</a>) are giving them a "Certificate of Recognition." Exciting times indeed. Press release after the break.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.porsche.com/usa/">Porsche Cars North America</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/03/22/porsche-green-has-solar-sheen/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Porsche green has solar sheen</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/03/22/porsche-green-has-solar-sheen/">Porsche green has solar sheen</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com">AutoblogGreen</a> on Sun, 22 Mar 2009 17:57:00 EST. Available on the Panamera Turbo, an active aerodynamic system used a "multi-stage, adjustable rear spoiler that deploys when needed." This four-way spoiler moves based on the driving conditions using "efficient management of control angles and surface geometry." Slightly more standard features like start/stop, Direct Fuel Injection and adjustable air suspension will also be available on the Panamera.<br /><br />On the European driving cycle, the Panamera gets 22 mpg (U.S.). EPA numbers, which are not yet available, will be lower than that because of differences in testing methods. The Panamera goes on sale in the U.S. in October, and we should get more information on the active aero spoiler before then. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/porsche-panamera-aero-features/">Porsche Panamera Aero Features</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/porsche-panamera-aero-features/1438440/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/03/panamera-turbo-spoiler-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/porsche-panamera-aero-features/1438439/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/03/panamera-structure-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/porsche-panamera-aero-features/1438438/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/03/panamera-aerodynamics-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Porsche via <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/18/u-s-porsche-panamera-to-get-start-stop-active-aero-among-other/">Autoblog</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/03/21/u-s-porsche-panamera-will-get-start-stop-active-aero/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>U.S. Porsche Panamera will get start/stop, active aero</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/03/21/u-s-porsche-panamera-will-get-start-stop-active-aero/">U.S. Porsche Panamera will get start/stop, active aero</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com">AutoblogGreen</a> on Sat, 21 Mar 2009 08:42:00 EST. On the question of downsizing engines for its cars, D&uuml;rheimer said that there were no current plans for smaller displacement conventional engines in the Panamera than the 4.8-liter V8. In certain markets, such as China, where larger engines are taxed more heavily, Porsche may choose to offer a smaller engine. The company also has not decided whether to install the 3.0-liter V6 diesel that recently launched in the Cayenne into the new four door. <br /><br />Porsche will, however, introduce its hybrid system in the Panamera after it debuts in the Cayenne next year. Porsche is working on a variety of technologies, some of which have already been implemented, to reduce CO2 emissions. The V8s in the Panamera and the flat-6 in the 911 already have direction injection and those vehicles are also available with dual clutch gearboxes. <br /><br />D&uuml;rheimer promised that Porsche would reduce its CO2 emissions by 25 percent by 2012 in line with the new EU regulations. Moreover, the company would do so without pooling its fleet with Volkswagen or any other brand. It intends to meet the rules on its own and without resorting to tactics like flex fuel capability. <br /><br />[Source: Porsche]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/03/19/porsche-will-cut-co-sub-2-sub-emissions-by-25-by-2012/">Porsche will cut CO2 emissions by 25% by 2012</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com">AutoblogGreen</a> on Thu, 19 Mar 2009 09:38:00 EST. <br />While charging along at 85 mph with a particularly poker-faced Porsche engineer riding shotgun, traffic begins to cluster on the horizon. Not willing to risk our seven-figure prototype, I gently roll off the accelerator, at which point a funny thing happens: Without warning, the tachometer needle dies, unceremoniously plunging to zero RPM. The supercharged, 3.0-liter V6 ahead of us has gone stone dead, yet our Porsche Cayenne continues to waft along unruffled. We are coasting along on the Autobahn, with only a modest bit of wind noise and tire roar as our soundtrack.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/porsche-cayenne-hybrid/1418054/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" align="right" alt="" class="right border" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/cayenne-s-hybrid_10_opt.jpg" /></a>Just as quickly as it began to appear, Stuttgart's traffic thins, and after gliding along for perhaps 15 or 20 seconds -- losing remarkably little velocity -- I ease back onto the throttle, at which point the rev counter jumps back to life just as quickly as it had extinguished, and the Cayenne eases back up to 95 mph before I slot in amongst slower traffic in the right lane. Beyond the tachometer's telltale drop and jump, there is exactly no indication that the engine momentarily packed it up just seconds before. My copilot, Dr. Michael Leiters, project manager for Porsche's Cayenne Hybrid, allows himself a brief smile.<br /><br />Far from indicating a mechanical defect, we've just witnessed what our Deutsche companion refers to as <em>"segeln"</em> -- sailing -- a fuel saving maneuver that Porsche says other automakers have written off as impossible without jolting disruptions. Yet beyond the tach needle's machinations, there has been no drama whatsoever: no untoward thwack in the back, no expensive-sounding noises, no head toss, no coffee spilled, just seamlessly reintroduced acceleration. The gas pedal simply called upon the engine again and the electric motor restarted it in a flawless, 300-millisecond passing of the power baton. Remarkable stuff. <br /><br />Follow the jump for more.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/porsche-cayenne-s-hybrid-5/">Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/porsche-cayenne-s-hybrid-5/1418037/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/cayenne-s-hybrid_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/porsche-cayenne-s-hybrid-5/1418038/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/cayenne-s-hybrid_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/porsche-cayenne-s-hybrid-5/1418046/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/cayenne-s-hybrid_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/porsche-cayenne-s-hybrid-5/1418039/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/cayenne-s-hybrid_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/porsche-cayenne-s-hybrid-5/1418040/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/cayenne-s-hybrid_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/03/10/first-drive-sailing-in-stuttgart-with-porsches-cayenne-s-hybri/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>First Drive: Sailing in Stuttgart with Porsche's Cayenne S Hybrid</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/03/10/first-drive-sailing-in-stuttgart-with-porsches-cayenne-s-hybri/">First Drive: Sailing in Stuttgart with Porsche's Cayenne S Hybrid</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com">AutoblogGreen</a> on Tue, 10 Mar 2009 11:58:00 EST. <br />Last fall, Porsche high performance tuning specialist Ruf announced that it had built a prototype electric sports car called the <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/10/10/ruf-reveals-electrically-powered-911-instead-of-cayman-ev/">eRuf</a> which was essentially a lithium ion battery-powered 911. That was just the beginning of the story as the company has brought the Greenster here to Geneva. The Greenster is a targa top 911 in the old style with a chopped speedster type windshield. In the back sits a 270 kW Siemens electric motor with 695 lb-ft of torque. The battery pack system has been improved and is now 30 percent smaller in volume, restoring the front trunk space that was lost on the original. The battery pack now has greater power capacity allowing it to release and absorb power faster, enabling more regenerative braking capacity. The battery can apparently be charged in only one hour from a 400V outlet. The next iteration will switch to a twin motor setup and the company is planning a small series production run in 2010. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/geneva-2009-ruf-greenster/">Geneva 2009: Ruf Greenster</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/geneva-2009-ruf-greenster/1399425/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/03/greenster-580-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/geneva-2009-ruf-greenster/1399429/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/03/greenster-580-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/geneva-2009-ruf-greenster/1399428/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/03/greenster-580-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/geneva-2009-ruf-greenster/1399427/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/03/greenster-580-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/geneva-2009-ruf-greenster/1399423/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/03/greenster-580-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/03/03/geneva-2009-ruf-greenster-evolves-the-electric-porsche-concept/">Geneva 2009: Ruf Greenster evolves the electric Porsche concept</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com">AutoblogGreen</a> on Tue, 03 Mar 2009 10:12:00 EST. Regular readers already know how it works. Basically, in most instances, the engine shuts down instead of idling, for instance at traffic lights, and stores enough energy to start right back up when the driver presses the gas pedal or shifts into the first gear. This technology can now be found in most car types, and is especially popular in Europe. It will surely become even more widespread once <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/12/18/eu-parliament-passes-130-g-km-co-sub-2-sub-limit-industry-ask/">new CO2 legislation</a> is enforced across Europe. We've got a list of 19 models (most of them available now, the rest coming soon) that offer Stop and Start on the continent.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.auto-news.de/auto/fotoshows/anzeige_Uebersicht-Alle-Fahrzeuge-mit-Start-Stopp-System_id_23736">Auto News</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/02/26/which-cars-in-europe-have-stop-and-start-technology-these-do/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Which cars in Europe have Stop &amp; Start technology? <br />Porsche has just released more information on the new Cayenne S Hybrid that will finally launch in 2010. The company has changed up its powertrain plans since originally announcing the hybrid. Instead of the older 3.6L normally aspirated V6, it will now use the new supercharged and direct injected 3.0L found in the new Audi S4 and A6. The 333 hp V6 is paired up with a 52 hp electric motor sandwiched between the engine and 8-speed automatic transmission. The combination of the engine, motor and nickel metal hydride battery can propel the Cayenne to 62 mph in 6.8 seconds. <br /><br />The 154 lb battery pack occupies the spare tire well. As a strong hybrid system, the Cayenne can operate in electric, internal combustion or blended modes. The motor and battery have enough power output to allow the SUV to run on electricity at speeds up to 82 mph when cruising on level ground. The hybrid motor also replaces the conventional alternator further reducing parasitic losses in the system. Porsche expects the hybrid Cayenne to top 26 mpg (U.S.) on the NEDC combined drive cycle, slightly better than the 25.3 achieved by the new diesel. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/porsche-cayenne-s-hybrid/">Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/porsche-cayenne-s-hybrid/1374897/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/02/p09_0662_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/porsche-cayenne-s-hybrid/1374896/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/02/p09_0661_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/porsche-cayenne-s-hybrid/1374895/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/02/p09_0663_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Porsche]<p><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/02/20/porsche-releases-details-on-the-upcoming-cayenne-s-hybrid/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Porsche releases details on the upcoming Cayenne S hybrid</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/02/20/porsche-releases-details-on-the-upcoming-cayenne-s-hybrid/">Porsche releases details on the upcoming Cayenne S hybrid</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com">AutoblogGreen</a> on Fri, 20 Feb 2009 14:48:00 EST. <br />Porsche started building the new Cayenne diesel SUV several weeks ago but the German sports car maker will publicly show it for the first time at the <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/category/Geneva-Motor-Show/">Geneva Motor Show</a> in a couple of weeks. Like its platform-mates the Volkswagen Touareg and Audi Q7, the Cayenne uses the VW group 3.0L TDI V6. The 240 hp diesel engine allows the new Cayenne to be the most efficient variant yet by a long shot. The Cayenne diesel is rated at a combined 25.3 mpg (U.S.) on the European cycle. The 405 lb-ft of torque motivates the Cayenne to 62 mph in 8.3 seconds with a top speed of 133 mph. The 25.6 gallon fuel tank gives the Cayenne a bladder-busting range of 620 miles. Like its siblings, the Cayenne is only available with a 6-speed automatic transmission. So far, Porsche hasn't indicated any intention of offering the diesel Cayenne in the U.S. market even though the engine is already certified for the Audi and VW. The press release is after the jump.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/porsche-cayenne-diesel-2/">Porsche Cayenne Diesel</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/porsche-cayenne-diesel-2/1372035/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/02/p09_0665_a5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/porsche-cayenne-diesel-2/1372034/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/02/p09_0679_a5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/porsche-cayenne-diesel-2/1372033/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/02/p09_0634_a5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/porsche-cayenne-diesel-2/1175967/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2008/11/p09_0398_a5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/porsche-cayenne-diesel-2/1175966/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2008/11/p09_0403_a5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Porsche]<p><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/02/19/geneva-preview-porsche-to-publicly-debut-cayenne-diesel/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Geneva Preview: Porsche to publicly debut Cayenne diesel </em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/02/19/geneva-preview-porsche-to-publicly-debut-cayenne-diesel/">Geneva Preview: Porsche to publicly debut Cayenne diesel </a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com">AutoblogGreen</a> on Thu, 19 Feb 2009 13:22:00 EST. <br /> While it may seem that <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/tag/direct+injection">direct injection</a> is just the latest and greatest way to dump fuel into an engine, the reality is that DI technology is the absolute <em>best</em> way to inject dead dinos in an engine. How so? Past efforts to increase power and fuel efficiency, while laudable, all had at least one serious flaw in that they were injecting air and fuel into an intake tract ahead of the actual combustion chambers, relying on a series of educated guesses on how that mixture would react when ignited. Direct injection gets its name from the process of squirting the liquid fuel directly into the combustion chambers, and modern computers with previously unheard of processing power make it all possible.<br /> <br /> To see the benefits of such a system in action, look no further than the 2009 Porsche 911 and, um, the <a href="http://www.ski-doo.com/en-US/Snowmobiles/MXZ/Overview.htm?Sled=MXZX">Ski-Doo MX Z X</a>. <em>Winding Road</em> put the two machines up against each other and found that both vehicles were pretty evenly matched competitors when it comes to straight-line acceleration on their intended surfaces, though things would surely change if both vehicles were on equal footing. <br />Porsche will publicly show its new Panamera four door for the first time at the Shanghai Motor Show in April and put it on sale in the U.S. in October. When it launches, it will be the first Porsche equipped with automatic start/stop capability. The start/stop system will be standard on both manual transmission and dual clutch PDK gearboxes. At launch, the Panamera will only be available with a choice of 4.8L V8s with and without turbochargers at 500 hp and 400 hp respectively. Unfortunately, even with the start-stop and direct injection, the 400 hp engine will only manage 21.8 mpg (U.S.) on the EU combined cycle which is nothing to get to excited about. EPA numbers aren't yet available for the U.S.-spec Panamera. Those hoping for more respectable mileage will have to wait for the hybrid version of the Panamera, which should come out later in 2010 or 2011. Now that Porsche has launched <a href="http:// http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/11/20/porsche-officially-announces-diesel-cayenne-for-europe/">a diesel version of the Cayenne</a>, we might even see such a thing in the Panamera.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/2010-porsche-panamera-interior-2/">2010 Porsche Panamera interior</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/2010-porsche-panamera-interior-2/1354281/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/02/p09_0670_a5-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/2010-porsche-panamera-interior-2/1354280/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/02/p09_0658_a5-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/2010-porsche-panamera-interior-2/1354279/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/02/p09_0674_a5-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/2010-porsche-panamera-interior-2/1354278/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/02/p09_0672_a5-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/2010-porsche-panamera-interior-2/1354277/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/02/p09_0666_a5-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Porsche]<p><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/02/13/2010-porsche-panamera-to-get-standard-auto-start-stop/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>2010 Porsche Panamera to get standard auto start/stop</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/02/13/2010-porsche-panamera-to-get-standard-auto-start-stop/">2010 Porsche Panamera to get standard auto start/stop</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com">AutoblogGreen</a> on Fri, 13 Feb 2009 09:36:00 EST. Last year, <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2007/12/30/daimlerchrysler-gets-record-30m-cafe-fine/">DaimlerChrysler set a record with a fine of $30,357,635.50</a>, and that figure is proving tough to beat. Still, Mercedes-Benz, which made up half of the failed marriage that was DaimlerChrysler, tried its best to top itself by recording a whopping $28.9 million fine for cars produced in 2007, again taking the gold medal. Come on, guys, we know you can do better ... or worse, or whatever.<br /><br />Other manufacturers that fared poorly in CAFE reporting include Volkswagen, which was hit with a $4.5 million fine (much of which was due to the Touareg light truck), Porsche and Maserati, which tied with $1.2 million fines each, and Ferrari, which had $1.1 million in CAFE fines pulled from the clutches of its purse strings. <br /><br />These huge fines are exactly why automakers are worried about the <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/01/08/surprise-next-administration-to-set-future-cafe-standards/">impending increase in fuel economy requirements</a>. Those companies that managed to stay under the requirements are also going to need to know as soon as possible what mileage requirements are going to be in the coming years if they have any hope of staying in the clear. It looks like that will <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/01/08/surprise-next-administration-to-set-future-cafe-standards/">not happen quickly</a>.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/autobloggreen-garage-2009-mercedes-benz-gl320-bluetec/">AutoblogGreen Garage: 2009 Mercedes-Benz GL320 BlueTec</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/autobloggreen-garage-2009-mercedes-benz-gl320-bluetec/1192949/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2008/11/gl320-bluetec-garage-1280-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/autobloggreen-garage-2009-mercedes-benz-gl320-bluetec/1192958/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2008/11/gl320-bluetec-garage-1280-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/autobloggreen-garage-2009-mercedes-benz-gl320-bluetec/1192957/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2008/11/gl320-bluetec-garage-1280-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/autobloggreen-garage-2009-mercedes-benz-gl320-bluetec/1192974/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2008/11/gl320-bluetec-garage-1280-04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/autobloggreen-garage-2009-mercedes-benz-gl320-bluetec/1192967/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2008/11/gl320-bluetec-garage-1280-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.freep.com/article/20090106/BUSINESS01/90106086/1014/rss13">Detroit Free Press</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/01/08/huge-fine-for-mercedes-benz-for-poor-fuel-efficiency/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Huge fine for Mercedes-Benz for poor fuel efficiency</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/01/08/huge-fine-for-mercedes-benz-for-poor-fuel-efficiency/">Huge fine for Mercedes-Benz for poor fuel efficiency</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com">AutoblogGreen</a> on Thu, 08 Jan 2009 16:52:00 EST. <div align="center"> <em><strong><small>Click above for high-res gallery of the Porsche Cayenne Diesel</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />Porsche just launched its first modern <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/tag/cayenne+diesel/">diesel engine in the Cayenne</a> sport utility vehicle, and the German automaker said when it was first introduced that it was planning on bringing the model to other markets. Considering that the Cayenne is Porsche's best-selling vehicle in India, it's not all that surprising that the oil-burner is slated for an Indian introduction in short order. Even better, according to <em><a href="http://www.cartradeindia.com/car-bike-news/porsche-cayenne-diesel-coming-to-india-110718.html">Car Trade India</a></em>, "a diesel version of this popular SUV is expected to sell like a hot cake." That sounds good, right? <br /><br />Currently, Cayenne diesels are produced at Porsche's Leipzig factory, and this is where the Indian Cayenne's will be exported from. Europeans are the first to get the diesel, and they'll officially get the option beginning in February for a base price of &euro;47,250. The 3.0L V6 engine comes from Audi and offers up 240-horsepower and a useful 405 lb-ft of torque.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/porsche-cayenne-diesel-2/">Porsche Cayenne Diesel</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/porsche-cayenne-diesel-2/1372035/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/02/p09_0665_a5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/porsche-cayenne-diesel-2/1372034/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/02/p09_0679_a5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/porsche-cayenne-diesel-2/1372033/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/02/p09_0634_a5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/porsche-cayenne-diesel-2/1175967/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2008/11/p09_0398_a5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/porsche-cayenne-diesel-2/1175966/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2008/11/p09_0403_a5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.cartradeindia.com/car-bike-news/porsche-cayenne-diesel-coming-to-india-110718.html">Car Trade India</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/01/06/india-getting-porsche-cayenne-diesel/">India getting Porsche Cayenne Diesel</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com">AutoblogGreen</a> on Tue, 06 Jan 2009 09:48:00 EST. Now, barely a month after that announcement, Porsche has launched production of the Cayenne diesel at its Leipzig factory. Porsche is installing the same 240 hp 3.0L V6 TDI that Audi and Volkswagen are using in the coming Q7 and Touareg for the US market. In the Q7 on the recent Audi Mileage Marathon, we achieved an average of almost 29 mpg over nearly 3,000 miles from New York to Denver. <br /><br />For now, Porsche is only planning to offer the Cayenne diesel in Europe where it will be priced from &euro;47,250. It goes on sale in February. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/porsche-cayenne-diesel-production-launch/">Porsche Cayenne diesel production launch</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/porsche-cayenne-diesel-production-launch/1248042/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2008/12/p09_0599_a5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/porsche-cayenne-diesel-production-launch/1248041/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2008/12/p09_0598_a5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/porsche-cayenne-diesel-production-launch/1248040/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2008/12/p09_0596_a5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/porsche-cayenne-diesel-production-launch/1248039/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2008/12/p09_0597_a5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Porsche]<p><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/12/29/porsche-launches-production-of-the-cayenne-diesel/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Porsche launches production of the Cayenne diesel</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/12/29/porsche-launches-production-of-the-cayenne-diesel/">Porsche launches production of the Cayenne diesel</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com">AutoblogGreen</a> on Mon, 29 Dec 2008 17:55:00 EST. The new 2009 911 with its direct injection and dual clutch gearbox is rated at 24 mpg (US) combined on the EU test cycle (19/27 on the EPA cycles). That's not an exceptional number around these parts. However, ex-racer and German TV presenter Klaus Niedzwiedz set out to prove again the influence that driving style can have on efficiency. At the wheel of a new 911 Carrera coupe, Niedzwiedz went 400 miles with a sealed gas tank. Over a mix of 19 miles of urban driving, 119 miles of country roads and 262 miles of autobahn Niedzwiedz averaged 52 mph and 35.1 mpg (US). The driving style used for this run is almost certainly not typical of 911 drivers but gentle driving can definitely eek more miles out of every gallon of fuel. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/35-1-mpg-2009-porsche-911/">35.1 mpg 2009 Porsche 911</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/35-1-mpg-2009-porsche-911/1229025/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2008/12/p09_0508_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/35-1-mpg-2009-porsche-911/1229024/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2008/12/p09_0506_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/35-1-mpg-2009-porsche-911/1229023/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2008/12/p09_0507_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Porsche]<p><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/12/17/hypermiling-in-a-porsche-911-yields-35-1-mpg/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Hypermiling in a Porsche 911 yields 35.1 mpg</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/12/17/hypermiling-in-a-porsche-911-yields-35-1-mpg/">Hypermiling in a Porsche 911 yields 35.1 mpg</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com">AutoblogGreen</a> on Wed, 17 Dec 2008 12:02:00 EST. After quite a bit of legal wrangling back and forth, Livingstone's ejection in favor of new London mayor <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/05/04/what-will-ken-livingstones-defeat-mean-for-london-congestion-ch/">Boris Johnson</a> and the <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/12/01/london-congestion-charge-zone-expansion-canceled-by-new-mayor/">roll-back</a> of the C-Charge in general, <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/07/08/porsche-ftw-london-scraps-25-congestion-charge/">Porsche came out the victor</a>. We're not really sure what to think about the issue, especially considering that <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/04/12/londons-congestion-charge-will-increase-co-sub-2-sub-emission/">each side had its own data</a> suggesting that its stance would reduce carbon emissions. What's more, both parties claimed to have the backing of the public majority. Such is the case whenever statistics are involved, right?<br /><br />Porsche had previously said it would donate all of its winnings in the case to charity, and the German automaker has now followed through with the cause. A total of &pound;375,000 has officially been donated to <a href="http://www.skidz.org.uk/">Skidz</a>, a UK charity that seeks to train young people mechanical skills, at a ceremony held at a Porsche facility in London. <br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2008/12/porsche-donates-legal-costs-award-from.html">Carscoop</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/12/03/porsche-donates-congestion-charge-legal-awards-to-charity/">Porsche donates Congestion Charge legal awards to charity</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com">AutoblogGreen</a> on Wed, 03 Dec 2008 16:45:00 EST. <br />Uh oh. Rumors suggest that Porsche isn't all that impressed with the <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/10/21/rufs-electric-porshce-powered-by-uqm-motor/">all-electric lithium-ion powered 911</a> from longtime tuning company Ruf. Not that the German automaker is giving up on electric sportscars completely or anything... in fact it's quite the opposite. Porsche is developing its own electric machine without the help of any outside companies, at least in the traditional sense. According to Tesla Motors, officials from Porsche have stopped by to take a good long look at the Roadster. It seems that they were interested enough to place an order for one of the $100K-plus electric sportscars, though Porsche will have to wait its turn just like everyone else that has put down their deposits. One can only assume that the car will be put through its paces, compared with models from the German automaker's own stable and summarily taken apart bit by bit just to see how it all ticks. Sounds like we won't be waiting too long for a Porsche versus Tesla run 'round the 'Ring after all.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/electric-ruf-porsche-911-2/">E-Ruf electric 911</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/electric-ruf-porsche-911-2/1110839/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2008/10/e-ruf_600-6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/electric-ruf-porsche-911-2/1110838/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2008/10/e-ruf_600-7_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/electric-ruf-porsche-911-2/1090313/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2008/10/electric_ruf_911_large_1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/electric-ruf-porsche-911-2/1090312/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2008/10/electric_ruf_911_large_2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/photos/electric-ruf-porsche-911-2/1090317/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2008/10/electric_ruf_911_large_3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/News/articleId=136488">Inside Line</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/11/25/porsche-places-order-for-tesla-roadster/">Porsche places order for Tesla Roadster</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com">AutoblogGreen</a> on Tue, 25 Nov 2008 07:58:00 EST.
