Detroit 2009: Top ten green cars of the show
After three days of running around Cobo Hall snapping photos, asking questions and banging out posts, it's time for a review of what we thought were the top green cars of the show. The financial meltdown of the last few months meant that a number of automakers took a pass on this year's show. For those that did show up, efficiency was a big part of the story. The Dodge Circuit EV pictured above probably has the best chance of being Chrysler's first production in EV if the company is still doing business as an independant automaker. Are you talking about the Escalade hybrid? That wasn't on this list.
The item on the list was not a SUV, the Cadillac Converj is a sedan with a plug-in series hybrid drivetrain, the same type as the Chevy Volt. The fuel economy should be excellent, and 40 miles all electric per charge means lots more gas savings on the daily commute!

Dodge should have left the nose alone. Then they might have made the top 10.
All I need to know is who will be selling aftermarket color matched nose pieces that look like the original Lotus nose.

Why is Ford waiting a year or two to plant the 1.6 Ecoboost engines into US cars? They like everyone else need sales/money now, why wait 2 years? Will they or any of the big 3 be here in 2 years? Hopefully you know something I dont, because that seems like an asinine move to me, which just makes me want to go buy a Toyota or Honda.

Am I the only person disappointed that the production version of the Fisker Karma didn't make this list?
Aside from the Tesla Roadster, it is the most fuel efficient production car. Because it can fit 4 people, if you start talking about miles per person per watts or mpg-equivalent, you're talking about a car that gives even the Tesla a run for it's money for its efficiency.
As to "paulwesterberg" -- you have no idea what you're talking about. Honda and Toyota hybrids have been using regenerative braking for 8 years. And they get 45+ mpg to begin with. So yes, yes you can get a lot more green than an hybrid Escalade.
