More shots of the 2010 Prius leak out

Finally! Some actual interesting images of the new 2010 Toyota Prius, along with a couple of videos that we've pasted after the break. We already had a pretty good idea of what the hybrid hatch would look like, but there are a few more details revealed in these new images. We also get to see more shots of the interior, which reveal the huge center console and mid-mounted digital gauge cluster, as well as a few different shots of what will be displayed there. One particularly interesting bit is the key fob, which will have a button to keep the air conditioning active while the car is parked. Our assumption is that the AC will be powered electrically using the roof-mounted solar panels. This car would have looked so much nicer if they didn't make those stupid looking foglights in the front and got rid of those God awful rear lights....why not use nice big round lights?
Like this it looks outdated already.

HAHA SUCCESS FOR THE INSIGHT!!! NO ONE IS GOING TO BUY A PRIUS WITH A FACE AND AN ASS LIKE THAT!!! the rear tail lights make it look like a dear caught in headlights!

i would have to agree... just because the car is the future doesn't mean it has to be ugly... and my keyfob from a 93 jeep was more techy than that thing!

Its funny to be talking about this, but that FOB looks like something you should get with a $12k car, not a $25k car....it looks seriously cheap. If I get one, I'll have to make sure I don't mix it up with my daughter's...she's 2 and has a play FOB.
Its weird, the design seems to have lost a good chunk of its authenticity of focus on being a hybrid (efficiency and not much else) - like they took it to committee (since it was actually successful) and had to make it more sporty and more conventional and here's the result.
The fact that Toyota didn't get rid of the Center console speedometer location is seriously disappointing.
Had they done a mild makeover of the current design - so its safety was truly updated and moved the speedometer etc. to where it should be - I wouldn't consider the new Honda. But now the Honda Insight is going to get serious consideration when I go shopping and I didn't want to be saying that.

Who cares about the key fob, you never even see the stupid thing. The doors open once you touch the door handle so long as you have the fob on you, and you don't need it to start the car, so who cares?
Seriously I've never once given a crap about how my car's key fob looked, and I'm pretty sure neither do 99% of people. The only exception maybe being Mercedes or Audi drivers lol.

A typical automotive HVAC system consumes 2 to 6 kW. A roof-mounted solar panel to completely power this doesn't seem likely.
Running the ventilation fans, or maintaining the 12 V battery during long periods of non-operation (if it's not parked in a garage) maybe possible.
