Toyota says Prius brand confirmation "Completely False!"

For some time now, Toyota has been contemplating the creation of a new Prius brand akin to Scion that would be dedicated to hybrid vehicles. This much is acknowledged by Toyota's Group VP for communications, Irv Miller. However a report the other day on Left Lane News that Toyota had decided to move ahead with a Prius brand was apparently premature. In a blog post yesterday, Miller declared unequivocally that the unattributed story was "completely false." At this point no decision has been made about moving ahead with a new hybrid only brand or even a timetable, according to Miller.

Hybride battery technology is a no go. Only hydraulic hybride technology for in town garbage truck make sense. The prius is just a politic statement at 10 000$ more for less power for saving 3$ gasoline a week.

Found out about hydraulic hybrid technology garbage trucks, thanks. Here is one link http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/05/06/peterbilt-unveils-new-hydraulic-hybrid-garbage-truck/ .
I run a 04 prius on a rural route postal route, stop and go all day, 120 plus miles. The vehicle will pay for itself in several years in gas savings, and is great to drive, though I do drive a older car for mud/snow days. The prius is great for high mileage , stop and go routes. 20 k miles on the route so far and no observable brake wear, so very nice!
