Top 20 green cars we wish we could buy today, Number 19: Velozzi

The fact that the Velozzi car is all the way at number nineteen does not mean it isn't an exciting design. In fact, far from it, as the vehicle looks amazing! Velozzi is an R&D group that's focusing on developing alternative fuel vehicles that is planning to compete for the Automotive X-Prize. Problem is, with dual AC motors, lithium ion batteries and a Weismann F1 gearbox, we'd expect a production Velozzi to be rather expensive. We've also never seen anything other than a rendering of a vehicle, so this could be a long way off.

seriously, this car stands for everything we don't want in an electric car. People want an electric car that saves them money, not a piece of plastic some designer created to be the backround of a high price tag.

Ken's right. If most can't afford one, it's a waste of time. This page is mostly about dreaming.
What's really needed today is a vehicle that has a great combination of affordability, green engineering and great looks - in that order. Nearly everyone wants to be green. Heck, it's in fashion.
In the US, 25% of working people make less than 25K. 50% make less than 45K and 75% make less than 85K. Hopefully in the future after the ball gets rolling, green car prices will come down to something sensible. Until then, only the upper middle class and wealthy will be the one's able to afford to go green.
