VIDEO: Paris Hilton says hybrids cars are "awesome," she has "the first one"

Paparazzi asked celebrity Paris Hilton about going "green" (see video below) and buying her new hybrid Yukon. Mrs. Hilton says "everyone" should buy a hybrid. Why? They are "awesome!" She even brags she has "the first one." What might Mrs. Hilton mean by saying she has the first hybrid, a type of vehicle that's been on sale for many years and is actually quite popular? All the commercials for the GM hybrids say "limited availability." GM only recently began selling the very expensive hybrid SUV, so demand may not be that high. Paris probably meant the first hybrid Tahoe sold from that dealership but it's also very possible Paris Hilton has the first hybrid Yukon IN THE WORLD!
UPDATE: GM tells us that Paris purchased the Yukon Hybrid the same as everyone else and they have no idea what she's talking about, either.

She thinks she IS the first human hybrid in the world.

She is certainly not the first, but it is smart of her to have gone for a hybrid. Maybe she will make it more fashionable to own hybrids and start a trend.
This CNN article at http://money.cnn.com/news/newsfeeds/articles/marketwire/0372491.htm talked about hybrid conversions and ZAP (http://zapworld.com/) CEO Steve Schneider is quoted as saying
"This collaboration allows more hybrid owners to have the most efficient vehicles on the road today," "ZAP dealers are preparing to offer a new level of service in the coming years involving mass-market hybrid and electric cars from Detroit Electric, so experience with plug-in hybrids can accelerate this process

And with that, the Yukon Hybrid, still in its first year of production, officially jumps the shark.

"Maybe she will make it more fashionable to own hybrids and start a trend."
It already is, Lexus sells their hybrids not as environmentally friendly but as a fashionable item.

GreyFicn: You think Paris Hilton would be driving a Prius if she wasn't driving this? No, she'd just be driving a non-hybrid SUV.
Who cares how much her particular car gets. What matters is whether she can help make the concept of hybrids *fashionable*.

Unfortunately, PH could very well be negative PR for any number of products.
Especially when presenting such mesmerizing expositions such as "hybrids are awesome."
Not that I'd give the Paparazzi any attention either... medical attention, that is, after cramming the camera into the first available orifice of said Paparazzi. Ayyyy!

Maybe it's the 2wd Tahoe that gets a planet saving 21mpg. It's even worse when you find out that the non-hybrid gets 16mpg. Seriously, call me when someone actually important drives something that isn't an abomination like this like that new VW Diesel hybrid.

I highly doubt Paris Hilton will make hybrids fashionable. I agree with others she may actually hurt their sales.

Goddamnit... a Yukon that gets 21city/22highway mpg vs. a gas Yukon that gets 14city/20highway IS NOT going green. Moving into a gas civic that gets 34mpg is going green. I'm sick of these bullshit marketing ploys and tax breaks for vehicles that don't even approach the "greenness" of smaller passenger vehicles.
While it reads great, the real world improvement is marginal at best. Give the tax break to the Honda Civic drivers and just leave the bloated SUV drivers to feel better that they're not raped as much at the pump by driving a hybrid bulldozer.

Hey guys, cut her some slack.
She's been living in the sheltered plastic world La La land her entire life and she is absolutely ignorant about what the real world is like. She desperately needs attention because she didn’t’ get any as a child (blame the parents) but she seems to have a really good heart. Not everyone can stand every minute of their daily lives critiqued in the world media and still have the courage to leave the house. After all, money fame or beauty CAN’T buy happiness or peace. In fact, they can cause more problems than they are worth.
She probably just got the first one of this type in that dealership as was told "she got the first one".
By the way, why are we talking about Paris here?

Whoever Paris Hilton is, she is somehow famous. It's good when famous people talk about and use new technologies, because it raises awareness. There is probably a certain number of people who will consider and purchase hybrids just because of her comments. Good stuff.

No, she means she drives a steam-powered 1897 Olds, of course.
