It's Friday: fifth grader builds air-powered car for science fair
Filed under: Emerging Technologies, Green Culture

That game show should be called, are you smarter than this fifth grader?
A fifth grader has created an air-powered car for a science fair, according to two videos on YouTube. The car has a range of .425 miles and a top speed of 10 MPH. There are two videos about the air car available below the fold. The first video, all about the creation of the car, includes the young boy welding the frame and getting the engine's pneumatic actuator timing right. The second video shows the child driving the vehicle on the street. Needless to say, the air-powered car won first place at the science fair. Watch out MDI, you've got competition.

Hi there!
You've got some really interesting content here on your blog. I actually just found you through digg. It's a wonder your articles don't get more votes!
I've actually been having the same problem with my own blog, DeanAndTheCaptainsBlog.blogspot.com. It seems like it's impossible to make the front page unless you are a top user or a site that already has tons of traffic. I've actually heard that these sites do all types of things to get more votes.
The only chance us little guys have is to work together, so I've been working to set up a networking group of like minded bloggers. Nothing illicit, just a group of friends to network with and exchange the occasional Digg or Stumble. I've heard this is crucial for getting any real traffic from these sites.
If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, we'd love to have you as a part of our group. Just email me back at leedean81@gmail.com with your email address and I'll give you the details.
Look forward to hearing from you soon!
Warmest Regards,
Dean

Its so refreshing to see young folks still interested in applying learned principles in practical ways rather than the usual repition of experiments and projects. This guy has something going. I like the simplicity of the idea. from construction to completion. The use of off the shelf parts to make a unique final product is also admirable. We need more of this.

So much time and money, so many engineers. And all it took was a kid thinking outside the box. Great thinking!

Dean, Blogspot is the best free software for learning how to blog. With a lot of work, you can get on Digg's front page. It's not just the popular blogs that get on the front page. That's why Digg is so popular. It's really about the story and Weblogs Inc is equal to a blogspot blog on Digg. Building a network of friends helps but Digg gives voters that regularly vote together less weight. Good luck with your blog.
