"Well, at least he drives a Prius" puts the bad taste into unofficial ads

If you're sick of the stereotypical holier-than-thou Prius driver image, we have three ads to show you. In each one, driving the hybrid is about the only honorable thing the driver is doing. Aside from the prostitute shot above, the others in the series feature body disposal and adultery. Toyota has assured AutoblogGreen that these are not official company ads but are "the work of an art director who is apparently trying to promote himself." Well, it worked. Check out all three images in the gallery below.

You know, I have yet to encounter this mythical smug Prius owner. I really think that a lot of people have a chip on their should when it comes to this car, and desperately _want_ there to be someone they can look down at.

I too have yet to encounter a smug prius owner. I have met many owners that 'love' the car but i do not see that as any different than corvette owners that 'love' theirs.

I have a buddy who's girlfriend just bought a Prius. I asked if her car was recyclable and she laughed. Same thing she did when she realized that a VW TDI driven flat out gets better mileage!

Isn't visiting a prostitute also adultery? I actually find TDI owners (like myself) are quite smug at owning the cars that get, hands down, the best economy of any car in the last 10 years.

Well my Prius uses 4.3 litres of petrol every 100 kilometres, I have yet to see a TDi match that, and this is across the city where most people do most of their driving. Even on country roads at 5.2L/100km a TDi would struggle to match. Diesel contains about 30% more carbon than petrol, produces more smog creating oxides of nitrogen and in may parts of the world is more expensive than petrol. There aren't many people drive "flat out" everywhere they go.
Since Volvo has become more main stream people were looking for a car to vilify in its place, along came the Prius and the new Volvo is born. Just things are a little confused because Volvos were about saving the driver and his closest friends and relatives but Prius works to save even the clown in the huge SUV.
BTW, the ads are good but not outstanding. I doubt they would sell one car and will soon be forgotten. OK, who said, "what ads?"?

I drove a 1995 Cadillac Fleetwood for the last 8 years, I am pro-American, Republican, very very conservative, anti-tax, and got tired of $65 per 20 gallon tank fill-ups in the caddy. My poor old 95 is wearing out, and I only see the price of gas going up and up, so I bought a fully loaded 2008 Prius two weeks ago on March 1, and drove it 2000 miles on a road-trip. First tank full (of 9 gallons) only got 30 mpg and I was a but concerned, 2nd tank (8 gallons) got us 39 mpg, and I was a bit happier but not impressed, 3rd tank was 45 mpg and all tank fulls since have been 45 to 50 mpg. We drove interstate most of the way at 70 to 77 mph. We have seen over 50 mpg during long stretches, and 75 mpg streches are common in town during congested driving. WOW! 40 gallons total to drive the 2000 mile trip. The cadillac would have needed 110 gallons (figure that at $3.15 per gallon). Oh, did I mention I have a lead foot too. If people try to convince you it has no power, they are flat out wrong. When both engines kick in you can pass anything on the road. We checked it out 0 to 60 in less than 10 seconds. The only thing that is bothering me is no sun roof, and I need the seat to go back one more inch to match my cadillac room, I am 6' 3" so the inch would be great. My son is 6' and he fit nicely.
