The ten cheapest cars in the world - #1 -Tata Nano

Tata Nano: 4-door hatchback. India. $2,497.
You know already the specs: 0.6 liter, 2-cyl (non-opposed), 33 HP and a fuel economy (combined) of about 5 l/100 (47 mpg). This car is well thought out, and lots of patents have been resulted from the creation process, from the Nano's powertrain to the assembly process itself. Will this car ruin the world? Some voices say that more cars on the roads imply more pollution, which is hard to argue against. On the other hand, Tata is betting that a green sheen won't hurt. The company will offer this model with Euro III compliant emissions from the start and with Euro IV compliance in the near future.

When you consider the average commuting speed in Fairfield County, Ct. is 30mph during rush hours and each vehicle is generally occupied by one person, it seems that a small car with great gas milage is in order. If the top speed could be governed at 60mph, we could solve many of our problems. With a price tag of about $2400.00, use the car for three years and recycle it (make sure the parts can meet that test). You may have a winner.

WHEN, Larry Burns, VP of R&D for GM, will GM produce for the American public, similar HYDROGEN cars [cars that run on water] as are currently being used in Norway?

Ratan Tata, the father of the Nano, recently announced that the car will only be available outside India starting in 2011 or 2012. Until then Tata Motors is concentrating on ramping up production for the Indian market where it will have its greatest impact in helping people to travel safely and realize their aspirations.
The Nano is Euro IV compliant and meets US crash test standards so it could conceivably enter the US market very quickly. Tata owns the US Jaguar franchise, so that is a likely outlet.
However, it is possible that US automakers may try to block the entry of the Nano because it would raise the bar too high for US competitors. More than 40 international patents have been awarded on the design of the Nano. The upcoming diesel version will have a revolutionary German designed common rail turbodiesel engine with Bosch fuel injection, getting around 70 mpg. There is also a diesel-electric hybrid in the pipeline.

funny,i don't think TATA can grow their car beautifully because they have lacked in their own business.I don't think at all in kolkata they have made the production and i don't believe about the car to be good, delay can harm TATA.TATA will know from india someone is rising that shamba mishra and if i can make so who can obstruct ELESH,,,but really i am taking TATA as a easy they can't hinder me at all and after ratan tata who is eligible to take tata keep on their own business..
NANO VS ELESH

This is nothing but a Auto-rickshwa ,One wheel is extra and Handle replaced with steering.
Auto-Rickswa can carry 5 passenger (Officially) But Nano can carry only 2.
But it is a great car,,,saves fuel but in USA any fuel efficient car is (officially) banned because Oil lobby is running the govt.

Unfortunately Dev is right (the powerful lobbyist) in Washington D.C. are (running/ruining) our government.
"We the people” no longer control our own government. We all want the choice to buy GREAT fuel efficient (little cars) on our roads. We want several to choose from, at great small prices too… This is where competition & capitalism is wonderful, because it keeps the costs down for us the consumers… But My own Congress is being (PAID OFF) by the (AUTO) lobbyists... How can we fix this situation so we all can buy what we what??? At the best possible price???

It's really fantastic!!! The price of Nano car is cheapest as $2,400? Here in the Philippines the lowest price of small car such as Kia Picanto, Hyundai (Getz), other brand, range from P400,000.00 - above..($8,333.33)
It will be appreciated if that price will be retained or even a little higher ifever Nano car will be promoted & introduced in our country.

While it may be a car which may change the face of US Car industry - the pricing (now around $2000 - Based on conversion rates) may be higher than the variants intended for Indian Market. Safety features maynot be rated 5 star...however this car may prove to be a boon for city driving conditions - may not be the best for interstate.
A high speed passing truck might even blow Nano away and topple it while on Interstates. Regardless... a good number of Americans do use their mean machines only for city driving and have a second car for long distant drivings. Nano may be best suited for a family second car or third car at the most. It will also be a boon for the Havenots!... who use public transportation due to the cost of owning a car. The basic intention to build the car was to target the market of people who couldn't afford luxury cars or standard cars. Obviously the 3rd world countries are the ones who need it the most - but it will also help even the lower middle income/lower income families in the most Advanced Nations.
The timing of Nano if brought into US within the next 1 year would pronounce doom for the GMs & Fords of the world during the economy slowdown.
Cheers

this car will never be sold in the u.s. About 15 years ago, subaru tried to bring a car called the justy into the u.s. selling for 3000$.I have seen hidden documents from the U.s. government that threatened subaru with criminal charges if they brought this car into the u.s. because it would put g.m. and ford out of business. One year later subaru did bring this car into the u.s. but raised the price to 10,000$.Then the government said it was ok.
