SsangYong is a Chinese-owned Korean vehicle manufacturer, primarily of trucks and SUVs that are best known for their ability to make people look away in horror. In recent years, they have managed to create some of the most aesthetically-challenged vehicles on the planet. Readers of this site will probably be familiar with one of Ssangyong's less scary vehicles, the Actyon. The Actyon rolling chassis in SUV and pickup forms is the basis of the Phoenix Motorcars electric vehicles. At the Geneva Motor Show next month, Ssangyong is planning to join the stream of other manufacturers and show off a vehicle with a diesel-hybrid powertrain. So far, there are no details about the type of system, or even which vehicle will be used. SsangYong is saying that it expects a thirty percent bump in fuel efficiency, though.
