Friends of the Earth warns about Saab greenwash ads
Filed under: Saab, Legislation and Policy, Green Daily, European Union

Friends of the Earth Europe thinks that some of Saab's latest ads are nothing but greenwashing, and has publicly warned the automaker to withdraw them or face legal challenge. FoEE instigated a summons (PDF) that was served to Saab's office in Belgium and "calls on the company to remove all wording and imagery from its website and brochures which associate its cars with nature or the protection of the environment. It must also withdraw false claims that driving a Saab reduces CO2 emissions." Another problem, FoEE says, is that Saab is not being clear about the CO2 emissions and fuel consumption numbers of the BioPower engines, "which is a violation of Belgian and European law." If Saab doesn't meet the demands in eight days, FoEE "will file legal proceedings."

All hype and no substance. Reality is irrelevant, image is everything.

Do these FoEE folks have anything better to do with their lives?

Friends of the Earth are the biggest set of morons in the world.
For instance in another story, concerning the uk's energy production plans for the future there stance is they are against the following possibilitys:
-coal fired power stations
-gas fired power stations
-oil fired power stations
-nuclear power stations
-hydroelectric dams if they need a reservior (all do i think??)
-tidal power - Yes! they hate that as its bad for the sealife (migration roots of fish and that)
-WIND POWER! - as it disturbes birds migratory paths and causes "visual polution" (ha)
- and they appose the future developent of fusion reactors (works diffrent to a normal nuclear power station which uses fission reactions, fusion "would" produce no waste or emmisions)for reasons not mentioned.
There solution is to use less energy, ok, nice plan, but its impossible to enforce upon 60 million people in uk and they are againt energy efficient lightbulbs!! as they often contain mercury which isnt mother natures best friend.
I saw this on a BBC news interview a while ago with one of FOTE top members, he was the kind of person you just want to punch in the face for existing.
But anyway sorry for the sidetrack just had to rant about them.
