The video above is a very good tour of all the green cars at the LA Auto Show in just 3 minutes. The tour guide has great observations and funny lines like the Volt was missing and he hoped this was not "a shadow of things to come." Yeah, they are described as "Hemi hybrids" in the video. This video has a close up the Hemi two mode hybrid logo...

That's strange that the Volt wasn't at the LA Auto Show. It was at the South Florida Auto Show which is going on right now.
I know that they only have to show cars of the Chevy Volt, so maybe they were using the other one for soemthing else?
But, they had the display for the Volt, and space for it to park, and they had lights and everything.
Maybe they just didn't have the car there yet.
It would seem silly of GM to not have the Volt at such a large auto show.

Well, originally it was a partnership between GM and DaimlerChrysler, started in 2004.
Now Daimler has spun off Chyrsler. I don't know if Chysler remains in the partnership, or just Daimler, or what. BMW also joined the partnership in 2005.
So maybe it's a GM/Daimler/BMW system implemented in a Chysler/Dodge product? So confusing! In any case, I don't think it is accurately described simply as a GM system.
Sounds like GM had a bit of a glitch in their marketing to have a booth for the Volt, and Volt commercials on the TV, but no Volt at the show. I don't see that as any sign that GM is not dedicated to the Volt. Just a simple arketing screw up. More important is the development progress, and it sounds like that is going well. It's still a stretch to think that we'll see mass production in 2010, but go ahead GM, prove me wrong!
Also, I thought that Tesla had a car in the Yokohama booth, but the first video left that out?

It's probably the same tech (hemi and the hybrid) but I updated the article anyway. Odd they would be displayed so closely. There were rumors GM might buy... anyway, I think the Volt was there, just not for the entire show. Rick's interview tonight probably has a few things to say about patents and the Volt. I think they did so much buying of hybrid tech vs development so the cars would make it market faster. I bet a lot BMW stuff is already swapped out. I hope they come out with something better than two mode as well. Hopefully GM's crappy mild hybrid will develop into a good city hybrid engine.
